It’s most probably formatted in windows NTFS. Format it to apfs using the disk utility in mac

I would first check to see if it comes up on a different machine. It sounds more like a pooched controller, otherwise you would be asked if you would like to format the drive if it didn’t recognize it.

    Hi John,

I’ve got a similar problem. My SSD drive isn’t showing up on my MacBook Pro (2019, Catalina).

When I first got the drive it worked fine. Then I realised Catalina doesn’t support Pro Tools properly (!) so I’m moving to Logic. I fired up some pro tools sessions on my partner’s windows laptop to render some files out of them to start new sessions in Logic and the drive worked fine there too. Then when I put it back into the MacBook it worked fine initially but started ejecting by itself and crashing sessions. It did that a couple of times and now it doesn’t show up at all when you plug it in.

It shows up in the Mac disk Utility as an external drive – ‘disk2s2’  but not mounted/ And when I try to mount it this error comes up –

    Could not mount “disk2s2”. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930868.)

Looking forward to hearing from you asap!

@Ricky: does it work on any other Mac or PC? Did you try to replace the cable?

    John

Not to try to scare you or anything, but if that is all you see in your disk utility, then more than likely your partition map is pooched and could be a sign that your SSD is dying. I would advise you to get a data recovery app and try to recover as much as you can off of your drive, before it gets in a totally degraded state. An app such as LazeSoft might help in this case. Sorry that it may not be better news in this case.

    Hey folks,

Thanks for your replies on this – still no luck but will give a couple things a look tonight.

Otherwise – Toontrack has asked that I send it back so they can check it out and send a replacement.

I will keep you informed as to how it all plays out.
