The chord selector can only have basic Major or Minor chords chords. The reasoning behind this is that in many cases, the bass will play the same riff – even if the chord is set to be a minor 7th, etc.

Do you want it for the bass to play those notes – or is it visual (so the the chord track shows the correct chords)?

Playing guitar or piano often means to play the notes that are included in the chord – but the bass will often not play those notes…

If you want a bass riff containing Dominants, 7ths, diminished, or augmented notes (of a chord) – either manually move the notes in the grid editor, or find grooves that has those notes in them.

I had the same concern at first but then thought about it and realized that Major or Minor covers 90% of the needs and some editing may be required in the grid editor for extended chord accompaniment.

Thats hard to know. Please Tootrack do an Update at least fir dimished chords or minor b 5 chord and dominant 7 chords and all the 7s and 6s in major and minor. Thats the real thing the music needs. Jazzbassists and also funkylines using all this and in popmusic we need this.

It cant be secondary because for the fast working thus is important. For example with a funk bassline with octave and septime in a progression of CMAJ7,9 / AMIN7/ DMIN7 / G79 to the root  CMAJ7 … needs that the bassline will change Automstic his 7ts

So it is by the song I FEEL GOOD FROM MR. JAMES BROWN

Please update for the people who need jszzharmonics

Yeah, another vote for extended chords. It may not be important in some genres, but it’s important in others. Jazz bassists play extensions regularly.

Sure, we can edit grooves, but that’s no where near as convenient as labeling a chord and the line including the extensions intelligently. And maybe add a % setting for how often extensions are played.

Also, I haven’t tried much of them yet, but lines played over slash chords aren’t done well from what I’ve heard. They could use some help.

    Mr Ekblom

Please tell to update this like a first priority. I am shure the next thing you do is other basses like an upright or akustic bass. I will buy other basses only included with the hole jazzchords library.

I agree, thats one of the very first things I noticed plus the fact scale choice is limited to just the major scale (and therefore its modes).  Personally, I think it would be better to just specify the exact chords you want and not worry so much about the scale, after all, even in rock/metal etc. where power chords are used how often are the chords in a song all diatonic to a given key.  I agree with arthur and think that improvements to the ‘compositional’ side of EZBass are more important than more basses, after all there are so many amazing bass samplers all ready available, to be fair I only purchased EZBass as a way of quickly generating bass lines, I am however realistic and realise that  with more complex harmonies some manual editing will always be required.

    Hi,

I disagree with the concept of only needing Maj and Min chords. I just tried playing a country tune with 7ths and had to rewrite the whole thing after adding in the additional notes to match with the chords I used – E, A, B, E7 & B7. These are the basics of country and blues songs ( in any Key) and the grooves never came close. Same with the bass grooves to match rhythm I installed with EZ Drummer 2. The grooves weren’t even close for what I wanted to play in a simple country song. I would wonder how a jazz player would like it without grooves for some really fancy chords

EZ Keys is so great for it. I hope you will reconsider that idea.

It was fun though, as I wrote a new tune using EZ Drummer 2 with EZ Bass and came up with a really nice song. I use Cubase 10.

Thanks again for getting it operating.

I also support the feature request strongly, being able to work with all chord types and with minor harmonic and melodic scales as well as with modes is essential! Having to make all these manual corrections in the grid editor is very time consuming, and after having done the corrections, the killer feature of EZ Bass – trying out different grooves on your song’s chord progression – is gone because you have to start correcting all over with the new groove. Thanks to Toontrack in advance for giving this high priority for the next release! 🙂

    +1 on more extended chords

please add all the chords available in ez keys

    i.e. 7th, m7th, dim7, min7 b5, augmented

    6ths, 9ths and then some.

if Scaler a 50$ app can use all these colors of chords, and ujam bass stuff can at least recognize and paint over dominants and 6ths and 9ths I would hope ez bass would expand its library to accommodate more flavors besides vanilla when it comes to chords.

So far it’s very hit and miss to work with any jazz midi period.

The sounds are great and super fun to play just fix up the chord choices, hand position options, and ability to flip GUI so bass appears backwards and upside down. Thanks for listening.

Yes agreed. 7th’s, diminished, b5’s, #9’s, etc. needed.

Strongly agree with this request for extended chords.  The lack of extended chords was one of the first things I noticed missing.

I’m hoping an EBX will come out tailored to jazz music with really jazzy walking bass lines that intelligently adapt to 7th-chord-type at a minimum.  Would be AWESOME if it included a sound library for an upright bass 🙂

Gotta have more than maj/min!! And not just for jazz. Some of the rock/pop stuff I do requires more!

I mean, I’m fine without extensions–but they would be nice to have. That said not having Augmented or Diminished options basically makes the chord functionality a joke. So many basslines depend on a root 5th relationship, and if you can’t have a b5 or #5 without manually making it happen, well it’s just not usable.
