I select a snare from MODERN the snare sounds DISGUSTING.

Can you elaborate on this? To much reverb? Bad EQ?

I don’t think I can elaborate to be honest. The sounds are putrid, the snares don’t sound ANYTHING like they do in their own SPECIFIC KIT. They all sound like crappy robot voices.

EDIT. toontracks emailed me an asked me to ADJUST THE BUFFER SPEED IN AUDIO/MIDI SETUP. I will now see if this fixes the problem!

EDIT> BUFFER SPEED ADJUSTMENT.. unfortunately DOES NOTHING..

this problem is ONLY AFFECTING SNARE SOUNDS.

Any advice or suggestions would be very greatly appreciated 🙂

Can you export the audio of what it sounds like, and mention what snare you are using on what library for the audio file(s)? Attach them here in a post so we can have a listen!

OK Henrik I will try and do as you have requested. But I don’t know if I can even work out how to do that hahaha

But like I said,, it happens WITH ALL THE SNARES in all configurations..

MODERN“—-1. snares from “post-rock” sound terrible. 2. Snares from “made of metal”  sound bad but not terrible

“Made of Metal”— 1. snares from “modern” sound terrible 2. snares from “made of metal” sound terrible

“Post Rock”– 1.snares from “made of metal” sound bad but not terrible 2. snares from “modern”  sound terrible..

the snares sound very TINNY, METALLIC, SHARP, AND THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME TONE. So may’be the same something is overlaying on the samples..

IM BRAND NEW TO VST and electronic drumming overall. However I am certainly not exaggerating the issue.. I have done literally hours of back and forth testing.

We need to hear the result to be able to tell you if it’s intended to sound like that, or if there’s anything wrong…

    • In EZdrummer 2 – use a short MIDI block on the song track that plays a groove.
    • Add a snare that you think sounds strange, and go to (top right side of the song track, icon with 3 lines) menu > track > export song as wave file
    • This will create an audio file that you can post here.

Henrik. So sorry for my overdue reply.. I have since downloaded another EZX and I think whtats happening is this. When I select a snare from another library and use it with a complete new library and pre selected kit the sounds are just processed differently. Some snare sounds work ok others sound dreadful. Sorry this is really hard to explain to be honest.. hahahaha Do you get what im saying?

WOW,, yes this is EXACTLY whats happening with me! but its affects all my EZX .. post rock, made of metal and big rock,, AND ONLY THE SNARES

hmmmmmm anybody have any suggestions! lol

That other forum topic deals only with loading snares from other EZXs into some Made of Metal presets. Made of Metal is the odd one out here in that it has 4 close snare mics while the other typically have 2.

Still, everytime you load a drum from another EZX you are gambling. It may sound good or it may not. If you are using the Original Mix preset then the “foreign” drum is supposed to sound rather like it does in its own EZX using the Original Mix preset. In any other case the result is rather unpredictable.

Yes I agree with you whole heartedly. However this wild gamble only seems to happen with the snare drums. It is what it is. I wonder if this happens in superior drummer?? thank you  TO EVERYONE for taking the time to reply  🙂

In Superior Drummer you get a chance to modify the preset to suit the foreign drum. Otherwise, yes, what happens by default when you load a drum from another library would be pretty much the same.

I just upgraded from EZ Drummer 2  to Superior Drummer 3 and I am noticing the same thing. I bought the death and darkness SDX and have loaded the preset “BB Ocean Blues” kit from the Death side of the SDX. When I changed the snare to the 14″pearl from the drumkit from Hell EZX the snare sounds nothing like it does when I load the whole kit together just as the original post says. This is happening with a bunch of different snares trying to load into the BB Ocean Blues kit.  From what I am understanding from your response this is because the kit from BB Ocean Blues did not use as many snare mics when recording it? I may be not understanding correctly. Either way , it looks like you are saying there is a way to correct this in Superior Drummer 3 by being able to “modify the preset to suit the foreign drum”. Could you please tell me how to do this or send me a link to a tutorial? I just got SDX yesterday so I am still new to it.

    Thank you

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

if you first load the EZX in SD3, you can save the Snare’s Mixer channel(s) as your own User presets.
Also, pay attention to which Mixer channels define the sound you are after.

Next, load the SDX, select the Snare and Replace with the Snare from the EZX. After that check the Microphone Routing, adjusting and/or creating new Mixer channels if needed. Last, apply the User preset(s) you saved in the Mixer.

    BR,
    John
