Hi everyone,
Newbie here and having lots of fun. I have a Roland TD-17KV connected through MIDI to a PreSonus Studio 24 that then is connected to my laptop through USB. Laptop is a Lenovo with W10 x64, 8GB of RAM, 2 physical cores / 4 logical cores Intel i7 and with an external 3TB HDD drive (I think it’s 7,200 RPM but not 100% sure). I use Reaper x64 as my DAW and from there I use SD3 x64.
I’m working on a project with 5 tracks where 2 of them are just mp3 files with few effects on it. Then a virtual Piano and then the SD3 track. When I play without recording everything works ok (although it takes some time at the beginning to load the sounds in memory), but when I record I hear these glitches from time to time on both the mp3 files and on the drum sounds as well.
Where’s the bottleneck? I’m thinking on getting an SSD drive but unsure if that will solve the problem as AFAIK the sounds get loaded in memory and once that is done there’s nothing needed from the disk, but I might be wrong.
Thanks in advance for the help!
What ASIO audio device are you using? What is the buffer size set to?

Reaper is set to a 44.1kHz sample rate and the Studio 24 is set to 48kHz. That might have something to do with it.
Are you running the latest driver for the Studio 24?
I would find a 256 sample buffer to be a little high for recording MIDI. I set my buffer to 64 (or 32) when tracking then bump it up to 1024 when mixing. Of course, the lower you go with the buffer, the harder on the cpu and more glitching can occur.

Yes, latest driver running on the Studio24. Will try with lowering the buffer there to 64 to see if it gets better. Will report back.
Thanks!
