Hello,
I find the user song structures to be a very powerful feature…Kudos for coming up with this innovative concept!!! One question though, I located where these are being saved to and I would like to create folders to group structures by albums. When I created a folder and placed a test structure in it I went back in EZD2 to view in the user structure area but alas…no folder. Looks like it’s blind to the folder…I was hoping it could see the folder like the user midi folders section. Is there a way to implement folders into the song structure area? For me I can easily see having hundreds and hundreds of song structures.
My working setup goes like this: Record into EZD2 an existing drum performance. Breakup the performance into sections…let’s say Intro/verse/pre-chorus/fill/chorus/verse and so-on. Save the overall performance (just in case need to go back)….Save the song structure. Now it gets interesting…open-up song creator…grab the opening verse let’s say and drop it into song creator….now save as a new song structure and viola!!! A whole new drum performance with new beats…fills..ect. but still based on your original song structure!!! Talk about powerful!!! And things get wild quick when you start dropping other clips from your library that have nothing to do with the original beats. This can take your drum tracks to places you’d never dream of!!!! Just a new song structure away (remember to always save)!!!!
The only improvement I can see adding is a lock bar/bars feature in the time line ala Jamstix. This would prevent over-writing midi clips in the timeline regardless of changing structures.
No, the Song Structures doesn’t read folders (like you tried). We may have a look at that for future updates.
The lock MIDI blocks may also be a good idea – we’ll investigate that too 🙂 I can’t tell you what or what not will be implemented in the future, but we listen to all suggestions we get from our customers.
