Newbie here. Ex-BFD3 user. When making edits to notes, or adding notes, on on the Grid Editor in separate Song Parts, EZD3 sometimes merges the Song Parts. It’s annoying as I want to keep the Intro separate from the Verse, or the Verse from the Pre Chorus, etc. Is there a reason EZD3 sometimes merges these when editing? Does it have something to do with Randomizing or Humanizing note timing (eg, first note gets randomized milliseconds before its Song Part actually begins, so it’s forced to merge with the preceding song part)? Any ideas?
Another EZD3 newbie here. Thank you very much, Granitza! Your question gave me the solution to this problem.
Yes, it seems that you have to turn off the humanizer before inserting a note (e.g. a crash cymbal) exactly on the grid between two parts of a song.
Otherwise it happens that the parts automatically merge and take on the same color. In this way you can’t distinguish a verse from a chorus, which is annoying.

Thanked by: Granitza and Glenn Stantonnice tip. counterintuitive from a user standpoint but it will help me avoid the merging nonsense… one thing i did find – you need to keep an eye on the humanise button – maybe i did it but when editing a couple of parts, it switched on, or that segment is assigned with humanise on? anyways turning it off returned me back to the normal editing

One tool I just noticed today is the Split tool (little scissors icon atop the Song Track bar). It splits blocks on the timeline, so good to have in case of accidental merging of Song Parts. 🙂
Hi all, yet another newbie with same issue but rather than the 2 parts merging into one, I thought the second part, (the one i had just added a note to on the first beat) had disappeared and yes it happened when i was adding a cymbal on the first beat of the latter drum song part.
I have tried an experiment with humanizer on and it merge the part into the previous part. I then did the same with humanizer turned off and they didnt merge. hooray that one is solved.
This has been puzzling me for days so thank you for helping me find out what was happening.
