Hi there,
I recently built a new killer PC recording rig running Vista 64 bit and bought an Edirol PCR-300 that came with Sonar. I upgraded to Sonar 6 LE and am now trying to use my other new app, EZ Drummer with the sequencer.
I can play the EZ Drummer solo no problem, but cannot seem to drag and drop the loops into my midi track in Sonar as I should be able to. I get a “Cannot open or find file” message.
In the Cakewalk Plug-n Manager under VST instruments, only Drop Zone and Triangle II show up as registered plugins. Those came free with the Sonar disk I got with the PCR. I cannot seem to get Sonar to recognize the EZ Drummer as a VST instrument.
I ran Sonar as an Administrator to get the plugin recognized, and I can see it scanning the Toontrack folder on startup, but it still doesn’t appear in the registered plugins window.
Please help, I have been going nuts trying to figure this out!
You are going to have to add a browse path to your EZdrummer.dll file in SONAR’s VST scanner dialog window. You should find the dialog at OPTIONS>GLOBAL>VST Plug-Ins>VST Scan Folder>

I was brain farting and thought the .dll file was in the Toontrack folder, when it was actually in C:Program Files(x86)CakewalkVstPlugins
I opened SONAR went to Global>VST Plugins and added the correct path.
I ran the scan, closed and reopened SONAR and now I have it as a Soft Synth. Wicked. I can now open EZDrummer in SONAR, but….
I still can’t drag the loops into my midi track. I still get that anoying “Cannot open or find file” message. To top it off, when I do try to drag a loop in, and then get that message, I have to unarm the track before I can play the EZDrummer again! There is no sound until I unarm the track and then try another loop or try playing the same loop again.
well, this may ultimately be a limitation of Sonar LE, for which we can’t make any guarantees since it is unsupported (so are 64 bit environments at this stage). More likely though it is UAC related, please see the following FAQ: http://www.toontrack.com/support/?ID=14
… this subject has also been brought up numerous times on this forum so a search using ‘UAC’ as tag word should bring additional information.
