    Try following these steps:

    Drum Sampler:

    1.  Using the “Synth Rack”, add the drum sampler you wish to use (ie: EZDrummer, Superior).

    2.  When the dialog appears with the Insert options, make sure that they are set to create the “MIDI Source” and the “First Synth Audio Output”.

    3.  Load up a kit in your drum sampler, verify that you get sound output.

    EZPlayer:

    1. Using the “Synth Rack, add EZPlayer.

    2.  When the dialog appears with the Insert options, make sure that they are set to create the “MIDI Source” and the “First Synth Audio Output”.  ALSO, check mark the option to “Enable MIDI Output”.

    3.  Find the Sonar MIDI track created for EZPlayer and in the Output (‘O’) drop-down it should say something like “3-EZplayer 1”.  Change that to the instance of the drum sampler you created.  (in my case, this would be “2-Superior Drummer 1”.

Open the EZPlayer interface and play a groove, it should be triggering the drum sampler.

    Best Regards,

I followed that and hitting okay in EZPP I get no sound in the grooves. If I drag loops into a track in EZPP and play bthe track I get nothing either. If I drag the midi loop into either the S2 midi track or EZPP midi track it will play. That is great but I can’t preview the loops before hand or use the editing functions of EZPP.

Then it does not seem that the plugin is outputting the MIDI. Are you sure you Enabled MIDI output?
Have you updated to the latest version, BTW?

You must know that the ‘MIDI OUT’ capabilities of Sonar does not work in 64 bit environments, at least for 32 bit plugins (although I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter). I see you are running Vista 64 so that’s the reason.

    Argh….!!!!
Is this an issue that will be fixed (by either Cakewalk or Toontrack) ??????
I have struggled with this exact issue for the last couple of days, and didn’t see any mention of this anywhere…. 🙁

I use sonar vs (also use sonar le 6 (same problem)) and I can’t find ez player pro in the synth rack. so what I do is use toon track solo as a stand alone. preview what I’m doing with computer speakers, then drag and drop from ez player pro to the track in sonar. very annoying but it works. so, when I’m using sonar v studio with headphones I can hear my project. when I want to preview midi from ez player, take off the headphones use computer speakers listen preview drag and drop put back on head phones (sucks!!!) one more thing make sure your tempo”s match on ezplayer and your daw. I NEED HELP TOO……. if anyone can direct me to a good therapist to reverse the damage that all this technology has done to my brain, would be greatly appreciated. by the way SONAR 8 producer…… vista x64 friendly… or Windows 7 (hopefully) will solve all of our vista x64 problems release date 10/22/2009 or better yet, buy a Mac.
