So when ED3 came out, I was like “cool we will see user improvements to SD3”. Well it sure seems like quite a bit of time has now passed. And basically … I have seen nothing. Just dropping in to say.
Or I guess just keep up what your doing now. Which kinda sucks imho.
Agree or disagree, this is how I see it.
Boo !!!
Disagree. The libraries for sd3 are superior as is the edrum part and a huge amount more. Nothing ezdrummer has interests me. Also when ezdrummer2 came out it was years before we got sd3. SD3 is a more professional package all round.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

Thanked by: Gary StiltnerAnd I have it. Not trying to advocate for ED3. What I am saying is that is all I see in advertisements etc. No news in upcoming improvements to SD3. And I think we should have heard some stuff by now. No? Workflow enhancements, etc.
Boo !!!
Professionally speaking, I’ve everything I need in SD3 – I’m my own humanize button, and I’ve no need for the bandmate feature. However, they’re still getting new libraries (including a new one later this month), and the Padgham one was jaw-droppingly good, so it’s not been let to hang in any shape or form. So be patient and enjoy both for the time being. Toontrack rarely announces things this far out, so their business methods shouldn’t be surprising at this point.

Thanked by: Gary StiltnerI’ve no need for band mate either. I’m happy they release SDX packs regularly. SD3 is fully functioning for me and I’d prefer it to be stable than introducing extra stuff.

I just want them to make it so that I don’t get 127 velocity when left clicking on a drum for selection. Really hard on the ears.

Thanked by: Kirk Degiorgio and analog missionaryI guess I will add the the wish list, I would really like much better midi maps for working in the DAW. Last time I tried it the drums and cymbals were all over the place. Sometimes I just want to trigger from the DAW and find things easily. Kicks with Kicks, Toms with Toms, Cymbals with cymbals, etc. Also when working in the app the editing could be better. It’s not terrible but it could be better.
Boo !!!
I think Superior is a pretty complete product. I do expect they will add Bandmate at some point – I will use that function. They typically add new functions to EZDrummer first then migrate them to SD for, I imagine, a couple of reasons. EZ is a smaller program and easier to make changes to without causing a major problem (I assume) and secondly, developing this new technology is not cheap. When you consider that TT has a finite customer base, it is just the way it has to be. I am fine using Bandmate (or whatever new function they design) in EZ3 for a bit if it means I can support a company that I love and that has allowed me to do things I could not even dream of when I started writing and trying to record. Plus, not everything needs something new to be great. At some point, Superior Drummer 3 will reach perfection. It is very close. Updates will be fewer and fewer because there will just be nothing to improve, other than making it compatible with the next OSX TRAINWRECK Apple comes up with and maintenance stuff.
The improvements in SD3 from 2 are still mind-blowing and the new SDXs have been phenomenal. It’s time to use these tools to make music, folks, not wait for the next whiz bang gadget to distract ourselves.
