Hi All
I just installed “NY Studio Vol. 2 SDX” and wanted to check the new kits. Some informations seems to be missing from SD2.
Where can I download the missing “SL-Avatar” Pack, since the SD2 Producs are no longer availible? I purchesed the SDX to have all the options, not just a part of it.
Thanks in advance for your help
Best regards

The solution to making all the presets function is downloading NY Vol 1. Once I purchased that and installed it, all the presets from all the libraries that seem to be problematic begin to work flawlessly. Not sure why toontrack hasn’t just included this sound library as an update for the libraries that have issues, but they haven’t as of yet and it doesn’t look like it’s happening any time soon. I took advantage of a sale on NYV1 and it cured all my issues. I would also like to add that even though it seems like a bad deal to buy a library with just one drum kit for the same price as one with 5 or more, the increased focus on that 1 kit makes it sound so much better to my ear. While I wish I hadn’t had to pay additional money for NYV1 just to make presets from other libraries function, I can state that the quality of the NYV1 library sounds makes it worth owning.

I’m sorry but that’s simply unacceptable. Sale or no sale, paying 95-159 Euros to make any of the expansions work on the newest version of the software is crazy.
I got tired of waiting for a response on the forum and contacted Toontrack directly which is an option, although finding the links on the website could be much easier. I was left with the feeling that there was not going to be any fix to this issue, but if the NYV1 was installed the presets would all work seamlessly. Everybody uses this product for their own reasons. I personally am a guitar player with a small recording studio that I produce in. The actual cost of the SDX expansions is similar to the cost of a medium quality guitar pedal, so in my case it was worth buying to eliminate the issue altogether. That doesn’t mean that I believe anybody should have to spend more money to have the product they buy function as expected. I’m sure that legally Toontrack is in the clear to leave things as is, but morally I feel that it’s not best business practice to sell a product that has options that don’t work stand alone without some form of up-front disclaimer. They do this with some products regarding the midi content, letting you know that the midi is the same as included in another purchase so you don’t double dip. Would be nice to see on the requirements of the SDX’s that you must have NYV1 installed for all presets to work… I think a simple statement like that would solve so much of this problem. I’m only posting this so people might see this and be informed prior to purchasing and being disappointed after the fact as I was. Now that I have installed NYV1 I have no further issues with any Toontrack SDX or EZX.
They do work and all the samples are there. It’s only presets that don’t work as sounds from another library were used as well. That doesn’t detract from the samples that exist in the kits. I don’t think I’ve ever used one of the presets.

Thanked by: Henrik EkblomThis is probably why there’s no rush to fix it. People buying more to fix the issue.
Got a NY1 for sale (and 2 and 3 BTW). Is that called ‘Music City’? 3 dvd set marked SDX for Superior 2. PM me if interested, but i am confused still what’s what … J
There`s always a balance/trade off with these things, Toontrack are obviously in the business of making a profit and we all want everything as cheap as possible. As far as I understand it NY vol 1 was the old SD2 library, so they should have got their profit from that at the time. So if you up grade from SD2 to SD3 you already have the old library available. The problem comes when people either upgrade from EZD2 or dive straight into SD3 like me. I think the earlier libraries should have been in SD3 but I wouldn’t mind paying a smaller/reasonable fee to get them. I also have a dilemma with Music City and Nashville which seem essentially seem to be the same.
Depending on price I might be interested in NY1 and NY3, are they on disc ?

Hi, I have the same problem. I just spent 379 Euros for SD3 and an expansion of my choice, that is NY Vol.2, but it seems to have a missing piece.
Give us the missing part, thanks.
Was thinking of getting NY Studios Vol.2 before Christmas, but is there still an issue with this now in 2020?
Hi,
nearly 2 years later and still no fix? Save big says the weekend deal today. Buy Custom & Vintage SDX.
It seems that Toontrack knows the problem and is not interested to fix it.
I will not buy NY Vol 1!
I’ll buy no more SDX!!
Toontrack: Solve the problem!!!!!

Thanked by: diavi and mikeypoo3626Agreed! New SD3 user here – I just bought the C&V SDX and found out about this issue the hard way. Support doesn’t care; they just want more money!

Thanked by: diaviI just bought & installed the Custom & Vintage SDX and I keep getting an error message about missing the “SL-AVATAR” library…surely Toontrack wasn’t dumb enough to make a ton of these presets dependent upon users having other very specific expansions?? I’ve searched and there was no SL-AVATAR library included in my install. What gives??
This is pretty unacceptable indeed.
Toontrack, people are asking you since 4 years in different threads about the missing parts, and you don’t even respond?
Ah, yes, your employees responded once to a guy, saying he had no right to ask any questions.

But please fix this now.
Also, you claim that you show instruments the way they are, in the ‘drums’ tab. But in Custom and Vintage SDX, the 24” Steve Hubback Cymbal Sculpture, built by my friend Steve, shows just like an ordinary cymbal. I think that’s a shame, as his great cymbals, gongs and other percussion instruments are really sculptures, art to hear and to watch.
It was part of why I purchased the library.
SD3 claims to be the best virtual drum kit in the world.
This certainly doesn’t feel like it.
Something goes wrong – no problem. Everybody makes mistakes, even the greatest champs.
But the first SDX ever released, and after 4 years it still refuses to load 5 of the 9 factory sets? That’s just ridiculous.
