I can’t get my midi controller to play the drum sounds in the VST window inside Reason on my Mac. Reaper gets the signal. I can even record the midi with the controller, and when I play back it plays the correct sounds via EZ Drummer. But I can’t get it to trigger the drum sounds in real time. Is there a setting inside EZ Drummer or Superior Drummer I need to change?
In the Toontrack Solo app, I can get it to work, but not within Reaper.
I’m using Reaper v5.4 and EZDrummer v2, as well as Superior Drummer v2. I’ve tried using the VSTi, VST3 and AU plugin on a Mac. I’ve also tried two different controllers. The korg nanopad and the Akai MPD32.
Any suggestions?
Hi,
this has nothing to do with plugin or controller, you need to check that Input Monitor is ‘ON’ on your EZdrummer Instrument track. There’s a small speaker icon right next to the label ‘IN’ on the track.

That doesn’t appear to be it. It also doesn’t trigger the animation of the drum hit, so it’s not just a question of sound coming through.
Are you using 64-bit versions of EZD2 and S2 in 64-bit Reaper or are you using a bit-bridge?

I just found the problem. I was having a hardware issue as well. Thanks for your help!
what did you find on this? I’m having the same issue but for the life of me I can’t figure it out. I’ve tried midi settings in reaper but nothing works. As a side note, I can get it to work as a control surface for transport controls but not to do drum hits.
