Been using SD3 for a while now without a problem. All of a sudden, the engine quits playing(follow host) when I close the FX browser. The channel goes dead. When I open it back up…I get “audio engine error”(sometimes)…I can get is to start playing again…and follow…until I close the FX browser. I’ve changed NO settings on either SD3 or my DAW (Reaper)? What’s going on and how do I fix this?
Are you running the latest version of S3? What are your system specs?

Unless an update came out in the last month…I should be up to date. I’m running windows 7 on my recording computer. It’s an older 8 core…16 gigs of ram. But, it’s worked flawlessly for months now…and this out of nowhere. The only thing that I can think of…is that I have a lot going on in the last session…maybe jumping around too quickly did something?
When I’m in the FX browser…it will play and then when I stop…the “audio engine inactive…check your audio device” will appear. My ASIO is working just fine with everything else.

Please check the Toontrack Product Manager. An S3 update was released last week.
Do you get the same issue in S3 standalone? With a new Reaper project?

Can be graphics related, USB related, or audio-driver related.
More specs could be helpful. Laptop?? amount of USB controllers etc
I did the update….no change. Desktop (not laptop) system…USB = mouse, keyboard, Akai MPK mini (was on, but not being used). Stand-alone mode seems fine.
If I “uninstall via control panel” and then reinstall…will anything get messed up? I’m on SUPER slow DSL…so, the less I download the better. I’ve got the SD3 Hard Drive as well…because of the DSL.
Hi,
please only use the Product Manager for installing/uninstalling your Toontrack products.
Are you using Reaper 5.975? And you can confirm that the SD3 plugin version is 3.1.3 in the interface when loaded in Reaper?
Have you tried disabling the ‘Close Audio Device…’ settings in the Reaper Audio preferences?
BR,
John

Yes, version 3.1.3 is the one loading in Reaper. As far as “close audio device”….I’ve changed NO settings…I wouldn’t think that my settings should not be an issue? But here are my related audio devise options.
Root “close audio device when stopped and application is inactive” …checked
Sub “close audio device when inactive and tracks are record armed”…unchecked
Sub “close audio device when inactive and rewire devices are open”…unchecked
Root “close audio device when stopped and active(less responsive)” …unchecked
When open in FX browser…and I stop playing…I get the “audio engine inactive check your audio device” warning. It goes away when I hit play.
