Hi. Just got the EZD2 upgrade. Maybe it’s only certain EZXs (I have Rock Solid), but seems like I’ve lost some of the “choked off” cymbal samples. Where the cymbal is suddenly stopped instead of allowed to ring out. They just don’t seem to be there, unless those are only active at certain velocities? I’ve gone up and down in the piano roll in Logic, most of the cymbals only have the “eternally ringing” samples. Is that just the way some of them work? I feel like I had ’em before, even on these same cymbals.
To be specific, the kit I’ve got active now has 1) Zildjian 18″ A custom crash, 2) 18″ Zildjian K dark crash, and 3) 19″ Zildjian A custom crash. 4 is not active in this kit. only the Zildjian 19″ A custom crash seems to have the choked off samples.
Maybe I’m wrong. Thanks.
Ok, I tried changing of the problem cymbals to the original Pop/rock cymbals from EZD1 that most definitely had that choked off sample, and it’s not working either. That’s weird.
Hi,
check the MIDI Layout document. I think the notes you are looking for are #50, #54, #56 & #58.

Thanks. Can you elaborate? I’m not sure what you’re referring to.. I’ve scrolled through the piano roll in Logic Pro X to the very top/bottom without coming across those samples.
any new advice? i found a few google docs linked to from this forum that may be the MIDI layout doc youre talking about, but see blamk entries for the cells representing the numbers listed above. at any rate, already scrolled all the way up and down the piano roll without finding those choked off cymbals so they seem to have somehow been replaces with the regular cymbal samples. anything to be done? thanks.
Sorry,
my subscription of this topic failed so I missed your previous reply.
The note numbers I listed above are indeed the note numbers for the Mute Crash Cymbals that are velocity controlled.
Please see the attached screen shot to see how you find the MIDI Layout document.
I am wondering if something has happened to your Logic Project that prevents you from accessing the notes?
If you start a new Project with only EZdrummer on a new Software Instrument Track, do you find the notes?

ah! ok thanks. so in the rock solid midi layout some of those (including the muted ones) are greyed out. does that mean anything?
tried your idea about starting new project. in the new project, the default ezd2 stock kit has muted cymbals on 1 and 2, but still not on the pop rock or rock solid cymbals i tried.
When I start a new Project and load the Pop/Rock EZX, I have Mute Hit on #50 and #58.
The greyed out articulations in the MIDI Layout document should be Alias notes, i.e. triggering substitute articulations.

hmmm. no luck for me. furthermore, when i open the cymbals in the interface and go to “details” there is no note for mute…only crashed.
maybe just scrap and reinstall? can i do it from scratch even though its an upgrade?
I see by your pic that you are running version 2.0.2. Please update to the latest version 2.1.1 from your Toontrack account.

just tried updating…hasnt helped. those hits are still missing.
i saw i had an update for the pop/rock ezx as well, wouldnt let me install it saying the “library was damaged” and that i need to reinstall the full product.
i see now that in the “about ezdrummer” box it says its now standalone version 2.1.1 but plugin version 2.0.2. is that what its supposed to be?
Ok I’m a doofus. . .that was a different EZD2 update that I’d applied earlier (core library something something), not the 2.1.1. Got it this time. Looks like I have my muted cymbals back!
However, tried installing that pop/rock update and still get that “damaged library” message even after the 2.1.1 update.
OK,
please download the Full installer for the Pop/Rock EZX and re-install it. Then apply the update.

set the velocity of the note you are scrolling thru piano roll to 127, and youll eventually find the mute hits. to get quicker chokes, create a new ezdrum2 track for just the mute notes. freeze the synth/track aka convert the track to audio then apply fades to the cymbal mutes to get the desired length of mute. at least thats how i got it done 😉
