What’s the best way to add an auxiliary/secondary snare to SD3? Are there any SDX’s that have a slot for an auxiliary/secondary snare drum? I’m wanting to add one for my e-drum but I’m not sure how to move forward in SD3. I’m very new to this, and have had SD3 for about just 3 months now. Apologies if i’m missing something obvious.
Is there also any resource out there that compares which instruments, specifically cymbals were sampled in which SDX’s? I’m envisioning a chart that has cymbals displayed vertically (y axis) and each SDX where they appear on the horizontal axis (x axis). I looked for any sort of list, at all, even just text based, but couldn’t find anything online.
Hitmaker has a gong drum placed all the way on the right hand side. Kind of similar.
Top left add instrument button. you can just add any instrument you want and as many as you want. They don’t appear within the kit with pictures but that doesn’t affect how it will play.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
And when you add the instrument it will add a new channel in the mixer and you can rename it to what you want (eg Snare 2). You can also route the bleeds as you prefer. Check out the manual. Also if you want an SDX that has 2 snares THE ROCK FOUNDRY has this but as Mark said it is visual only.
Dell Precision 7730, i7 6 Core 2.6 GHz, 128GB RAM, 1TB SSD and 3 x 2TB SSD, Windows 11, Cubase Pro 14, SD3 plus a variety of SDX's and EZX's, Orchestral Percussion, EZBASS, RME BabyFace Pro FS and KRK V4 monitors. Modified Yamaha DTX900, DTXPRESS4 and Edrumin10 triggering SD3. Yamaha pads/cymbals and Roland VH-10 HiHat. PDP Maple acoustic kit for live playing.
Thanks everyone for the help. I got it going. On presets with Hitmaker, I use the auxiliary snare to trigger the gong drum then panned the microphone to the left so it matches where the aux snare is and then adjusted bleed.
