The new search features in EZD2 are really fantastic. If someone knows how to do what I am describing here, great. If not I’d like to offer this one to the developers as a future product enhancement. — One thing with EZD that’s been frustrating from the start is that when you drag and drop clips into an Instrument track (ProTools 12.4 for example) the source library and source groove are not show in the Clip Name. Only the name of the variation is shown. For example: “Hats Variation 1.” If one wants to locate the original source library for closely matching variations one has to sort through each and every conceivable library which is extremely time consuming. Just for the heck of it I exported the MIDI Clip as a MIDI file and dropped it in the EZD search engine where it says Drop MIDI Here. Surprisingly, it did not turn up the original source clip in the search results!!! It would be great if there were a way to search the original clip by typing in the name in a search field. Or better, add more user-visible metadata each clip name.
If you drop the MIDI into the EZD2 Song Track, you can select a groove and use the Show In Browser function. If you drag MIDI out of EZD2, there is no way for it to be referenced…easily. You would need to use own and paper to keep track.
