Is there some offset going on in sd3 or in logic?

Do you have any Time Signature changes prior to bar 247? Either in SD3 or in Logic?

If the time signatures don’t match between Logic and SD3, this scenario may occur.

Sorry to bother you again Henrik.  I have inserted the time signature change on bar 114 to 2/4 and back again on 115 to 4/4.  When I play a loop in logic it starts on 114 as expected.  My grid editor in sd3 is however out of sync and start one quarter beat late.  Also, if I go to the beginning (bar one) the sd3 starts one quarterbar after bar one????  Hard to edit when the event bar in sd3 is running a quarterbeat late.  What am I doing wrong?  Please help.

    Hi Henrik,

Wanted to let you know that as of today my time line is running correctly.  (Showing the proper locations in grid editor).  No need to ponder over what is wrong in my setup.  Don’t know why…It is showing the proper beat without the quarter beat shift????  all of a sudden?  Hope it stays that way.  Maybe I had to reload the whole logic/sd3 thing new for it to accept the time signature changes I made?  At any rate.  All is ok.  Just wanted to let you know.

I have one more small question that I couldn’t find an answer for in the tutorials and trouble shooting section.  Maybe you can shed some light on this when you have time.  I was using a NY Avatar drum kit originally when playing in my drums for my medley.  I changed though down the line and switched to the Premier Rock/ Superior Dr. Kit/preset which suited my song better.  On my middle G# midi note in the NY Avatar drumkit I had a drum roll.  After choosing the new kit I saw and heard that that midi note had an other articulation when I tried to change it to drum roll to correspond with the drums in my saw I saw that that articulation was greyed out and that I couldn’t choose it for the Premier Rock kit.  I’m sure it is just me being stupid again but could you tell me how I can make that midi note/sound correction so that the Premier Kit plays a roll on the middle G# as it did in the NY Avatar kit?

Thanks, as always for your help .  Otherwise all is running and sounding great.  Enjoy your weekend

Hi Henrik,  You never got back to me after my last question regarding not knowing how to midi mapping a roll articulation to a preset that doesn’t have the roll articulation available?  For example…N avatar has a roll on snare on thr middle Bb but the most others in the sd3 core library have no roll.  Also not listed in the articulations to click on or off.  Can I insert it somehow.  Whatever?  Maybe my question isn’t understandable or answerable.  One thing that has been driving me nuts that I really need to find out and have looked everywhere to find a solution without bugging you again is this.  I have somehow gave a command to my cymbals in certain places to play a choke when i don’t want one.  When I select or play the cy via midi or by hiting it in the drum window….it rings out the way I want and would expect.  In the song however at certain event locations there is a choke n the cy no matter what I do.  How can I toggle the choke on or off or get rid of it?  Is this a logic command doing this?  I have muted my logic sd3 drums and recorded them over to the sd3 but I can’t find anywhere where I can undo the choke articulation in the automation parameters?  Can you help?

    Thanks

    Jimmy

You can edit your midi and look for polyphonic aftertouch. I don’t know where you do this in logic though as I use Cubase. When you do find it then just delete the aftertouch events (not the notes)

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

I have been on vacation, hence my late answer 🙂

Not all instruments has all articulations, and Snare Roll is such an articulation. When you load a snare that doesn’t have a snare roll you can either:

    • program a custom snare roll with MIDI notes, using the regular center hit articulation
    • Insert a snare (that has a Snare Roll articulation) as an added instrument
    • Add a Snare Roll articulation as a stack to the currently loaded snare.
      • In this scenario, stack it to an articulation that you don’t need and mute the original articulation. By doing this, you’ll “replace” the original articulation with the Snare Roll.
    • Replace the snare with a snare that has the Snare Roll articulation

When I select or play the cy via midi or by hiting it in the drum window….it rings out the way I want and would expect.

You can also inspect the Aftertouch values in the Grid Editor in SD3. Change the Velocity view (in the bottom of the Grid View) to show the Aftertouch that’s used to mute the cymbal.

    Hi Henrik

Once again spending fruitless hrs. on google, you tube, user manual, etc. to try and do something I am sure must be very easy.  Can’t find a solution.  Here’s my problem.  Want to trigger finger snaps on my midi keyboard.  I found them in pop library and have added them to my kit (see attach).  They play when I touch them with the mouse.  It says they are on B6, midi note 107  but when I hit that key on my midi controller they are not there.  Have tried using the midi mapping to replace something that I am not using like for ex. –  the sidestick with the snaps.  Since I can’t select the snaps from B6, I cant press the learn button to swap them in.  As you see they are also already added to my kit under intsrument 1.  How can I add them?  What am I doing wrong and how can I get them to sound on my midi keyboard so I can record them?

Are you sure you are sending B6 from your keyboard? Some keyboard use a different octave for Middle C. Roland says it’s C4. Yamaha says it’s C3. It would throw off the octave mapping depending on what the keyboard is sending.

Have you tried using the MIDI Note Learn function to map the articulation directly to a specific key on your keyboard?

To find out what key/note your keyboard is sending to Superior Drummer 3, open the MIDI Monitor box (right of the drum kit in the Drums tab) and press the key on your keyboard.

Okay I have a question. If I have 2 instances of sd3 in logic, will I be able to trigger the sounds of a library (Modern Metal EZX) on the e-kit on one instance while playing against loops from a different library (Latin Cuban percussion EZX) at the same time? Basically I want to be able to play the drums over percussion loops. Is this possible? Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Yes, you can play on one SD3 track in Logic while the other plays percussion loops. Generally, the selected instrument track in Logic is your live track.
