Hi there,
I trigger SD3 with a Roland TD-50X (digital snare PD-140DS). I have setup all the midi settings (based on the preset for the TD-50X) properly, and it works fine for all the instruments with sticks.
Playing with brushes on the Roland module using the brushes module sounds only works also fine.
But: If I use the SD3 instruments with brushes and trigger them with the E-drum (playing with brushes), I get only the center and off center hit articulations (like with sticks, but of course with brushes sounds). How can I make use of the additional brushes articulations available in the SD3 brushes instruments such as Drag and Swirl?
Mapping midi note 23 from Roland, which is designated to brush sound in the module, to midi note 6, which is the snare zone trigger in SD3, does not lead to articulations like drag, but only to many continuous hits.
Is there a solution to this? Or is it simply not possible to trigger the brushes-specific articulations with an E-Drum?
Thank you for your help!
Chris

Hi,
Unfortunately it is not currently possible to trigger brush drags and swirls in the traditional way with e-drums and Superior Drummer 3.

Thanked by: ChrisHi Damian,
ok, thank you for your reply! At least I´m glad that it is not my mistake as a user :-).
This feature would make a nice addition to the overall functionality. But anyway, I am very happy with my combination of e-drums and SD3. Besides the brushes issue it works really great and is an incredible playground. I am a big fan of SD3!
Best regards
Chris

Thanked by: Damian BluntDamian,
I have a similar question, two years after this original post. I own SD3 with the 2 Roots expansions (including the brushes and rods) and currently use a lower end Alesis Command Mesh eDrum kit with SD3 (I don’t use the Alesis module except to send MIDI to SD3). I am considering purchasing the Roland V-Drums TD-27KV2 Kit to upgrade and use it the same way with SD3. A fair amount of my playing is with brushes, including swirls. Has the technology improved since 2022 to allow me to trigger drags and swirls in SD3 from the TD27KV2 or is that still a limitation?
Thanks.
Still the same.

Thanked by: Bud KrollHi Damian,
3 years after my original question: Is there a solution meanwhile due to an update? In my experience not, it is still the same using the settings I mentioned, but maybe I missed some new developments. My Roland TD50X runs on the latest firmware 1.20.
Thank you!
Cheers
Chris
