For years I’ve used a Roland TD30 with SD2 and 3 (death and darkness) via an Uno MIDI to USB cable and had no issues playing accurately and recording accurate MIDI into my DAW. A couple of years ago I upgraded to a TD50 and then about 8 months ago I upgraded to a V71.
Nothing changed with my DAW (Studio One 3.5.6.46910) computer (2018 MacBook Pro), or midi cable but since the 50 and now 71, SD3 has had the same issue with both of not picking up kick hits if I’m doing 16ths between 2 drums (like a blast beat) on anything with 8ths or more on the kick. Every other drum seems to mostly be fine interacting with this type of fast playing between them but when the kick is included hits are being dropped non stop. I have also noticed that the volume is slightly quieter than it should be on certain toms and cymbals.
when the midi is recorded, every drum has random long sustained midi notes when written, other piano roll notes of the same sound are also written on with long sustained notes or just get triggered/written randomly and the dropped kick hits are reflected in the writing of them as well.
this is mostly what I’ve noticed but I’ve updated my SD3 a few times (including today) and the problem persists. I’ve heard about issues with USB 3.0 and using the 50 but all the USB C inputs on my computer I guess are standard thunderbolt 3 so that’s not something I can work around. Has anyone figured this out yet?
