I use Roland 50X VAD kit with SD3 and Logic as a DAW . I often see the SD3 disconnects from audio interface when I am in session , when I connect back again – I see a delay or not in sync. In that case,I always need to restart the module to fix this issue. The frequency is more , 2-3 time in an hour of session. Any feedback or solution is appreciated. Attached the error i get when face this issue. I have mac book with 16GG RAM, 2 TB HDD with close to 1 TB free

It’s a 2015 Mac book. For Vocals recording , I use a Focusrite audio interface that I run it when I need it, In the current case – It is not connected.
Yes my drum module act as an interface, I don’t need an additional one. I am using this setup for years, I need to figure what is the change causing this for last 6 months. My USB cable is 10ft long, I have checked the drivers – It is updated with latest one. No, I am not losing the power to Roland. Only the audio interface abruptly disconnects and connecting back in few secs.

A 2015 MacBook has USB 3.1 ports – don’t know if the Roland can deal with that. It also doesn’t have i5 processors. Or do you have a 2015 MacBook Pro (that has the i5 2.9 GHz cpu)? You really should use the Focusrite as your only audio interface. That it worked for years doesn’t mean anything. It may well be as I said that the Roland can’t handle being used as a drum brain AND an audio interface at the same time. There’s no need to stop using the Focusrite because you think you don’t need it. Stick with one audio interface (unless you know what you’re doing) and be done with it. Why complicate things? Swapping interfaces isn’t easy to make work right.
I’ve been at this audio game for a LONG time and it pays to follow the KISS paradigm.
Said it before and I’ll say it again your issue has NOTHING to do with using SD3. Grok that and you’ll be fine.

Thanked by: Stick_dHave you changed any settings regarding latency or perhaps an update has done this for you. If your latency is too low, your DAW will drop out.
In Cubase, you will get a message telling you of an audio drop out, but will not disconnect from the interface.
In ProTools I do not know what message you will get.
You will find this in the settings window for your audio interface.
Cheers Ken

Thanked by: Stick_dJack is correct on this issue. This is a CoreAudio issue and has nothing to do with Logic or SD3. You should not be using your drum module as an audio interface because USB has an extremely narrow bandwidth and your drum module is sharing both MIDI, and audio at the same time over USB similar to a single lane bridge on a four-lane steeet during rush hour. Thus, CoreAudio is disconnecting. Use your FocusRite interface to help share the load.

Thanked by: Stick_dCore audio I do not know anything about. I’m not a Mac guy.
However, I can stream 16 channels in and 10 channels out of audio and play the drums MIDI-in and send midi-out to sound modules all at the same time on one USB 2.0 cable. All at a latency of 11.3ms round trip.

Good for you. You have something that works. However, like you said: you are a not a Mac guy. There are other bandwidth factors involved, such as disk traffic and CPU capabilities. The CoreAudio framework attempts to take into account things like audio over MIDI. However, the drum brain may not be keeping up as both a MIDI and sound module on USB. Not to mention that USB is buffered and not a preferred choice in audio production anyway.

Thanks everyone for your time in getting me a response & clarity . I’ll explore the solution with focusrite interface and latency parameters to see if I get rid of this issue.
Thanks

I agree 1000% I didn’t even know that you could do that with a Roland drum module
and my computer was upgraded to an I 9/20 core and I researched for damn near six months on internal bus speeds, and all that fun stuff. I am a retired electronics technician, and I used to work on mainframe computers, right from the memory up.
as for our friend here, stick with the focusright as your main audio interface and you should not have any more problems
