Trying to set up SD3 standalone with the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra into a FOH mixer for live performances as follows:
Kick – Channel 1
Snare – Channel 2
All Toms – Channel 3
All Cymbals – Channel 4
How can I effectively route the above to the corresponding channels in the mixer?
Thank you!
By clicking on the Output of each channel in the Mixer, you can route to all available hardware outputs in the selected audio interface. You can also use the busses to group multiple mic channels to a single bus and then set the bus output tip a hardware output (i.e. all Kick mic channels to a single bus).

We tried to do this but even though we designated like channel 1 to all kicks, it still came up to channel 1 &2. OK I get that…stereo…so we set the channels to 1&2 to kick, 3& 4 to snare, 5&6 toms, 7&8 to cymbals. The interface still sent all instruments to all channels at the same time, It got really confusing. The SD mixer was showing separation, but the interfaces was combining them and sending all channels to the mixer with no separation.
I’m not familiar with the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra so I can’t really help with configuring that.
Make sure you’ve set up the S3 Audio device section correctly. That you’ve set up the Outputs correctly.

I am trying to have the output from SD3 output thru my audio interface (Presonus 32-4-2) instead of my stereo speakers on connected to my MacPro. How do I configure this?
Hello,
like Carminemw I try to set up SD3 standalone with built-in audio interface of the StudioLive Series 24R III mixer for live performances.
The built-in audio interface has 64 channels. Channels of the mixer showing in SD3:
I am not able to route SD3 outputs to the separate channels of the mixer using standard routing. SD3 sent the kick and snare signals to same channels (1 & 2) at the same time, channels 3 & 4 have no signals. It seems to me that this happens if the SD3 outputs are right next to each other. It got really confusing. During checking the signals SOLO the relevant outputs and MUTE “Overhead” outputs are using.
In SD3 using this output assignment I got the signals go to different channels of the mixer:
Kick
Output(L) 1: Channel 1
Output(R) 1: Channel 2
Output(L) 2: Channel 1
Output(R) 2: Channel 2
Snare
Output(L) 5: Channel 5
Output(R) 5: Channel 6
Output(L) 6: Channel 5
Output(R) 6: Channel 6
Toms
Output(L) 9: Channel 9
Output(R) 9: Channel 10
Output(L) 10: Channel 9
Output(R) 10: Channel 10
Hi-Hat
Output(L) 13: Channel 13
Output(R) 13: Channel 14
Output(L) 14: Channel 13
Output(R) 14: Channel 14
But with this settings in SD3 now the signals go into the mixer as follows:
Kick => Channel 1 and 2
Snare => Channel 3 and 4 (instead of 5 and 6 due to assignment)
Toms => Channel 5 and 6 (instead 9 and 10 due to assignment)
Hi-Hat => Channel 7 and 8 (instead of 13 and 14 due to assignment)
Example: Snare output settings and signals coming in mixer:
For me it is confusing why the signals completely go to the “wrong” channels of the mixer. Further the SD3 output assignment just provides 16 outputs so using this “workaround” does not really solve the problem.
Could you please help?
Thanks.

I don’t have any experience with that hardware mixer but maybe try routing like this:
Output(L) 1: Channel 1
Output(R) 1: Channel None
Output(L) 2: Channel None
Output(R) 2: Channel 2
Output(L) 3: Channel 3
Output(R) 3: Channel None
Output(L) 4: Channel None
Output(R) 4: Channel 4
ETC….

Thanked by: Duy Tan BuiHi Scott,
many thanks for your quick response. Your provided solution works for me.
I can’t find / assign the “Channel None”, so i am using Channel 20 instead. But now the defined routing sends the signals to the right channel of the mixer.
Another question: in the SD3 mixer section we have output 1/2 to output 31/32.
But how can i assign channel to output 17/18 .. 31/32?
Under Settings => Audio / MIDI Setup … => Out Channels => i can only find outputs 15/16 as the last entry in the list.
Thanks.

There are 16 stereo output channels (1/2 through 31/32) in the S3 mixer. So if you’re routing the stereo outputs to your mixer’s mono faders, the outputs show as 16 pairs:
Output(L) 1:
Output(R) 1:
Output(L) 2:
Output(R) 2:
Equals stereo output (1/2) in the S3 mixer.
In other words, 31/32 is stereo channel 16.

Thanked by: Duy Tan BuiHi,
I am triggering Superior Drummer 3 with my EDrum Kit Everything is working, and sending it to a A&H CQ18T Mixer for live band practice. Would like to Split the outputs from SD3 via USB in, to 4 or 5 channels on the Mixing Board. Everything seems to only go to Inputs 1/2 (stereo). I can not seem to separate the mix into sub mixes.
Thoughts, and Thanks!
Dave
You would have to route the outputs in Superior Drummer 3’s mixer to different channels. As well, your interface would need to support multiple channels via USB.
