SD3 mixer mono outs in Protools?

Hi,

New to SD3 so if my issue is listed somewhere else kindly point me in the right direction thanks. I’m trying to learn the mixer outs in SD3 and use it with Protools 12.5. My question is , is there a way to output the channels in mono for inputs in protools like snare, kick etc in mono? I only see 3/4 ,5/6 etc. I also can’t find any tutorials online regarding this anywhere, only in SD2.0. The Toontrack video regarding this on their own site is way outdated from 2.0.

I see that the channels are routed to internal mixer buses but can’t you output the channel directly into Protools or do the mixer channels have to be routed through the internal bus then out to Protools?

If anyone knows of really indepth videos on this please leave the link, thanks.

Hi Thomas,

because the SD3 software needs to be compatible with all types of Toontrack Sound libraries and DAWs, the plugin has 16 Stereo outputs.

These can be used as Mono outputs, with the help of panning.

If you e.g. wish the Kick to be on one output and the Snare to be on another, you can route the Kick to Output 3/4 and pan it hard left, then route the Snare to Output 3/4 and pan hard right.

In Pro Tools, you would create 2 Mono Instrument Tracks or Mono Aux Tracks and set their Inputs to plugin>Superior Drummer 3 Out 3/4.L and Superior Drummer 3 Out 3/4.R respectively.

After a bunch of trial and error I was able to get all of my tracks routed to Protools. It’s a basic routing but it gets me going and from here I’ll work with buses and fx.

what routing options in particular are you referring to? In SD3 or Pro Tools?
