Is SD3 3.1.4 the latest for Mac? 3.2.4 is the latest I have for PC and in Pro Tools it works fine, fyi.

Thanks for your input shootiehg. Glad to know it has the capability that I want. I have updated my SD to the latest (3.2.4). But unfortunately have the same problem. I am on Mac and use SD on a slave computer on VEP.

Sounds more like it could be a VEP issue. It is probably transmitting a song position pointer message to SD3, causing it to go back to the beginning.

Ok thanks for the pointer @bearfacedcow. I’ll look into updating vep. I have a few compatibility issues with other programs, the version of  vep I’m on and being on an old osx. I’ll report back if I manage to change vep.

I am running Pro Tools 2020.9.1 with SD3.2.4 and tried for about an hour to get it to do what you describe. (I couldn’t) I would agree with Jord, it’s most likely VEP sending a pointer 0 back to SD3. I am not using VEP.

Thank you for taking the time Brad for testing it for me on your rig. Much appreciated. I will endeavour to upgrade VEP in a couple of weeks after I have finished a project. Will report back in due course.

Might be worth putting a question out on the VEP forum. I searched but couldn’t find anything.

I have upgraded my VEP – the latest available for Catalina that is VEP 6.5.18947. Unfortunately this has not solved the problem. I didn’t have a problem with this a couple of years ago. Anyone else have this problem?

    Hello John

I have updated to SD3.2.5. Unfortunately the problem persists.

I did a test where I put SD directly into pro tools (instead of going via VEP). The problem does NOT occur. So it seems to be an integration with VEP and SD. It’s a shame, as sometimes my projects are so big I need to to be able to work on VEP with all the software synths like SD on a slave computer. This problem makes it incredibly difficult to work efficiently on the grid in SD as sometimes my cues go for say 8 minutes and its cumbersome to always to have to scroll along to the correct bar number in SD everytime I make an adjustment after pressing play and stop.

I have searched VEP to see if other people have this problem but no one else has reported this problem.

Thank you for your help on this.

Also my apologies, I reported the wrong OSX previously. I am on Mojave 10.14.6. I can’t upgrade to catalina because of pro tools video issues.

So in summary my rig is

    Mojave 10.14.6
    VEP 6.5.18947
    ProTools 2020.3
    SD 3.2.5

many thanks for your help on this

    Cheers

    Hi,

I see what you mean now. I tried with VEPro 7.0.1056 and SD3.2.5 in PT Ultimate 2021.7 and it’s the same for me, so I guess it’s VEPro sending some kind of RTZ when you stop the PT timeline. The SD3 AAX plug-in inserted in PT behaves as expected, i.e. follows the PT timeline exactly.

I couldn’t find any settings myself to remedy this in VEPro, so if I may suggest you contact their support?

    BR,
    John
