I installed SD3 to my OSx drive and the sound library to a 250gig external SSD. My installation seemed to be going well until I used the “clean up” function which seemed to delete the installed files. They are re-installed and verified but I am definitely missing the intention of “clean up”.
My other problems are:
1. My OSx drive is now nearly full because of a 223 gig “sounds” folder in the Superior Drummer folder in application support. I hope these are redundant files. Can they be deleted so my OSx drive can breath again? I have the sound library on an external SSD
2. I am getting error messages from the last two sound library installations (Pt. 4 and Additional bleed). My external drive is 250 gigs and reserved for the sound library files. The last two files are downloaded and nearly complete in the installation but won’t finish. My drive still has over 10 gigs left. Is the error a space issue? Will “clean up” solve it?
Thanks!

No, but it’s incomplete. It’s at 225 capacity. If I had installed to my spinner in the first place I could have just moved the folder to the ssd, correct?
Yes you could have installed to your spinner and then copied the SuperiorDrummer3 folder to your SSD. But I wonder what’s with the other 25GB. It’s a 250GB drive SSD yes?
you should be able to;
1) Copy the SuperiorDrummer3 folder to your spinner.
2) Go into SD3 settings > Libraries and edit the path to point to where you moved SuperiorDrummer3
3) Reboot
4) Install 4 and the additional bleeds to the SuperiorDrummer3 on the spinner.
4.5) (Making sure it’s complete in SD3)
5) Format the SSD just to clear the file allocation tables (or whatever they call them in this century)
6) Copy SuperiorDrummer3 to the newly formatted SSD
7) Go into SD3 settings > Libraries and edit the path to point to where you moved SuperiorDrummer3 on the SSD

Seems so obvious now but oh well. I’ll have a new drive tomorrow and all will be well.
I’m doing what you suggested right now so hopefully I can just move the folder to the new 500g and be ready for SDX action.
Thanks again, Brad!
No worries, probably learning more than you wanted to know on how SD3 is put together.
Once you get it going you’ll love it.
I really can’t think of anything that comes close. Sounds you can get are unbelievable.
Cheers mate.
Let me know how it goes.

Not to keep you going forever but, after copying the SD3 folder to my spinner, PM showed up like this:
It looks like the “installation” took place without prompts. Can I install the 1-5 using the exe.?
Not sure how to proceed now. I have the 500g drive ready to go but I seem to get more confused with everything that happens here.
Sorry installed a dishwasher….
What does SD3; Settings > Libraries look like?

I know part of the problem is that I deleted the SD3 file on my OSx drive so I’m at square one, even though I have all the downloads.
Can I use the exe. files to install somehow?
Sorry about your dishwasher. We just did it too.
Copy the folder SuperiorDrummer3 to your new SSD.
Then
You should be able to go in SD3 > Settings > Libraries edit the path and navigate to the location of SuperiorDrummer3 on your new SSD.
Reboot
Then let’s see what PM thinks. Also check Part 1 details instation info. After doing all that.
Sorry this becoming epic.
I think I just read your last note correctly. You should have only moved the SL-SuperiorDrummer3 to Trash from /Library/Application Support/
If you didn’t empty the trash you should be able to restore it. Otherwise you should start from step one. By installing Superior Drummer 3 (plug-in) and start with sound Library 1.
BTW I am going to be without power at home 9am – 9pm tonight PDT, but will check when everything is back on-line.

No need to apologize. You’re an angel for hanging in while I create this clusterbang.
So this is PM after I’ve copied over SD3. Not sure why it doesn’t see all the downloads. They’re all on the spinner.
Hopefully it’s easier now but I seem to be good at defeating that lately. Sheesh…so sorry.
Update: Just figured out the paths and things look better. Installing 4 and 5 now. Not holding my breath though.
Finally. You’ve been amazing and I owe you a great debt. Thank you, Brad.
Oh yeah…now if I “clean” what will it delete? Installation files, I know but which? Can I safely delete them other than the set I’ll save on my spinner?
The SD3 file size is exactly as you said so there’s nothing there to worry about.
Mick! Ya did it man!
Glad to hear it’s all installed and you can finally make music and not worry about computer stuff.
clean with remove everything in the folder configured in PM for your download location.
The last screen print indicates that is your new SSD. So I am guessing, you might not want to do that.
If you can show me a directory listing of; SSD 500, that would be great!
Cheers mate…

Here is the new SSD.
Ignore the next one. The third is the PM destination and the spinner. You’re saying that PM will delete the Toontrack folder and I’ll still have the individual downloads for safety.
I’m just not sure which to keep.
Anyway, once again…thank you Brad! I’m off to Colorado for some shows but will be back Sunday.
Stay in touch if you’d like.

Best of luck in Colorado!
Cleanup will remove unnecessary files in the Download location. Currently that looks like where your sample library is stored; the SL-SuperiorDrummer3 folder on Drum SSD 500.
At this point you’re not likely to encounter downloads the size of the SD3 library, so under PM Preferences, just select; reset. This will set it to the default, which I think is in your documents folder. Updates shouldn’t cause anything to fill up as they are not usually that large.
As for what files to keep, I would say, backup the working SuperiorDrummer3 folder and you should be able to delete all the SL-SuperiorDrummer3_SDX_Part1-5 folders.
But make sure everything works in SD3 first .
Have a good weekend mate.
