I am attempting to discover why the hi hat pedal in the GUI is disabled when I try to click on it (similar to hitting any drum in the GUI interface).
It worked some time ago, and not sure what could have disabled it.
It is isolated to SD3; as my recordings in MIDI (from a TD30) are showing (and I can hear) hi-hat open/close activity.
Thanks for any ideas
I never noticed that until now but you’re right. Click on the hihat pedal and nothing happens. That’s across the core library as well as Death & Darkness and Area 33. Did you notice this before you went to SD3 3.4.0? Maybe a bug in this version? Anybody with a previous version – what do you see?

I just noticed it after trying to track a drum section off my roland TD 30 through PreSonus Studio One v 7.
Everything is up to date and it’s definitely not the DAW or the TD 30 – none of my hi hat barks (quick open close hi-hat) play in sd3 at all… the media information is definitely there but I simply can’t get st3 to perform them.
I see hh options in the MIDI mapper of sd3 but I cannot change/select them. I admit I lack knowledge in this area of midi mapping.
I just checked this out on my backup machine which is actually on sd3 3.3.7 and the problem exists on that version as well.
I get hihat hits from recorded MIDI but not when I click the pedal in the SD3 gui. Every other hit on a gui kit piece gives me sound and movement on that kit piece. Also with recorded MIDI even though I get a sound from the hat there’s no movement from the pedal but there is movement from the hat cymbals themselves. But say with kick drum I get movement on the pedal as well as sound.

Ok, I spent a lot of time relearning and setting up the TD30 with a standalone drumkit, that has no local triggering (sounds from the td30). I then spent some time with training SD3 with snare and hihat settings. One thing they don’t tell you is to hit your hihat when calibrating at each stage (open, close, open) that seemed to help a lot. Also, upon calibrating, some of the midi tracks I recorded earlier did come to life. Not sure when/why they undid the hihat footpedal function… I like it, personally.
They need to send out an up to date video instruction on these; the best one I found was 7 years old by Mike Luke (good stuff) – https://youtu.be/RN0qsbVgUyw?si=RP1kpt75qkQLIj_1
This issue is considered resolved. Thanks all for your input.

Thanked by: drumjack52Hi,
Actually, the hi-hat pedal has never been clickable and was never meant to be. I’m not saying that’s good or bad, I’m just saying it’s not a bug.
You can access the various hi-hat articulations in the Articulations menu up to the right (where it says “All Articulations” by default).
