DP9 runs well until I try to load a project that includes SD3. If I start up DP in safe mode, I have the option of loading SD3 or not. Without SD3, everything is fine, but if I try it with SD3 I get an immediate crash of DP. SD2 also works just fine. I cannot upgrade to OS 10.11, as Apple has chosen to not continue Firewire support, and that is central to my setup
iMac 21.5 late 2013, 16 G memory w 750 Gig HD, Mac OS 10.10.5, MOTU DP 9.0, RME Fireface 800, MOTU MTP-AV(2), Behringer ADA 8200(2)
What version of SD3?
Cubase Pro, Korg Kronos, M-50, Hammond XK-1c, Toontrack SD3, EZBass w/lots of expansions, many VSL Vi's, Shreddage 3 everything, and shit-tons of FX plugins.
Are you sure about Apple support for FireWire? I’m running MacOS 10.14.5 on a Mac mini and a 2017 MacBook Pro and I connect to FireWire 800 drives all the time. Haven’t used 400 on them but 800 has been working. My library drive is thunderbolt 3.
I see this info in lots of places: Apple has discontinued development and maintenance of their FireWire Core Audio driver for the new Mac OS X El Capitan.
….and RME no longer supports the Fireface 800
