I have a TD-12 Roland module and have been recording drums using Reaper with real cymbals using the Roland TD-12 for the drum sounds.
I am considering the many advantages of using SD3 and recording the midi data and using SD3 sounds.
What is needed to interface the TD-12 with SD3? Can I just use the midi out on the TD12?
I have Digidesign Digi Rack 003+, a MBox 2 and a Miditerminal 4140 dedicated Midi interface which all have midi.
I am wondering if I can just plug the TD-12 into one of these and it will work.
Thanks
Baz
There is a E-Drums preset called TD-12, so I assume that will map the midi notes perfectly fine.
I use a TD-30 and it works great against the TD-30 mapping preset in SD3.
thanks for the reply.
I am a fair way down the track now and have started to record using my TD-12 and SD3. I am still tweaking things trying to get the same dynamic response and low latency I had from the TD-12 in SD3, and I am getting close now. I felt that using the TD-12 my playing was well represented but the sounds were not quite what I would want. I am getting close to this with SD3, but I have to play with the many settings to get closer to the sounds that represent my playing and suit the tunes I am recording to. Anything new always has a steep and frustrating learning curve, but hopefully a better result.

Hi,
please check out the new 3.2.5 update, it will give you some more options on tweaking.

Hi tom-mx5,
there’s a Preset on the MIDI In/E-drums page. Why would you need someone posting a MIDI Preset?

John
