I think I would reinstall it. It doesn’t mean downloading  the sounds again

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

Thanks, I’m trying that but Product Manager isn’t installing the AU for some reason. I wish there was an “uninstaller” so I could start from scratch.

I doubt a reinstall is necessary. Try trashing the prefs first. You’ll find them in here:

    ~/Library/Preferences

    (~ = your Home directory)

    Hi David,

if I may ask, what do you base this on? If the PM didn’t install an AU version, how did the one causing the crashes end up there?
If you select the SD3 product in the PM, what does the Installation info tell you?

Did you try to select the SD3 plug-in and ‘Reset & Rescan’ in the Plug-In Manager?

If you upload a crash log, I may be able to see what is wrong.

Thank you, The application just locks up (with spinning beach ball). There is no crash report that I’m aware of?

If the PM didn’t install an AU version, how did the one causing the crashes end up there? The original installation included the AU. I manually removed the VST and AU since, after downloading the installer, an uninstaller was still not available.

    *AU not installed.

In that case, when Logic is frozen, you could save a sample of the Logic process using Activity Monitor (once you get the AU installed again).

I have it installed but now Logic locks up on SD during the AU scan. How do I record a sample from Activity Monitor so you see what you’re looking for? Here’s a screenshot of the lockup and Activity Monitor:

Your AU cache is probably corrupt. Delete your AU Cache and Let Logic rescan all AU’s.

Thank you. I’ve looked in the main Library and User Library Cache folders and can’t locate an audio unit cache.

To delete the AU cache, please close Logic and switch to the Finder and go to the menu Go > Go To folder > Then type in: ~/Library

    Then delete the file ‘Caches//AudioUnitCache/com.apple.audiounits.cache’

    Reboot and then start Logic.

There’s an AudioUnitCache folder in ~/Library/Caches

    Delete it and rescan.

Found it, deleted and rescanned. It stopped on SD3 for a long time and finally came up with a dialog that says it didn’t pass validation and would be disabled. I’ve already reinstalled prior to this. Could this be a due to a recent MacOS or Logic upgrade?

Try going into the Plug-In manager and doing a Reset and Revalidate of SD3 from there. I’ve seen corner cases with other AUs in that they crashed AUVal just due to the sheer number of AUs it was validating. Doing them individually often fixed that.

Considering that the majority of the entire music industry has not caught up to BS, I’d definitely say that the upgrade to it was premature.
