SD3 Catalina & Cubase 10.5 CRASH!!!

SD3 Is constantly crashing my cubase the moment i try to switch tabs on Sd3 say like to the groove editor or mixer ….. is any one else seeing this with Cubase 10.5 & Catalina  its driving me nuts?

Hello,

I have the same problem after updating to Cubase 10.5, it crashes as soon as I want to open SD as a VSTi. It plays just fine if I open an old project and I can record ok. As soon as I want to open SD within Cubase it crashes. Worked like a charm in Cubase 10.

I do not mean to hijack this thread but I have attached my error log.

Running Mac Mojave
32 GB Ram
UA Apollo Twin MK2
Latest version of Cubase 10.5

It looks like something has corrupted the heap memory, because these two logs are crashes within the system calls CGContextDrawImage and CGImageCreate.

Please upload a few more Cubase crash logs if you can – you can find them in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports (use “Go to Folder” in Finder’s Go menu). It may help us find the cause of the crashes.

If SD3 doesn’t crash in standalone and didn’t crash in older versions of Cubase, I would guess it’s Cubase itself causing this (corrupting the memory). It could also be another plug-in. Since SD3 uses quite much memory, it is likely to trigger crashes when the memory is corrupt. (Note, corrupt memory does not mean there’s anything wrong with the hardware RAM, it’s just a type of software bug.)

here you go more crash logs and no there no conflict with another plug its the only vst in the project

I’ve tested Cubase 10.5.0 with Superior Drummer 3.1.4 now on both macOS 10.14.6 and macOS 10.15.1 and I haven’t had any crashes.

Create a new empty project, insert SD3 and switch tabs?

This was a blank session and sd3 was the only plug so I’m at a loss right now I can’t use my sd3

Could you give exact steps for reproducing the crash, please? (It’s not clear if you are doing anything between inserting SD3 and switching tabs.)

sure i can

step 1.   Load cubase pro

step2. Create Blank Project

Step3 . Insert an Instrument Track and select SD3

step4. Open the instrument

Step5. Either Crash or Instrument shows

Step6. Swap to the groove tab and Crash

i know im not the only one im reading stuff all over the net about it

Hm okay, I still cannot reproduce it. After step 3, could you please save the Cubase project and upload here? Also test yourself to restart Cubase, open that project and see if the SD3 instance already in it crashes.

Does the SD3 standalone work for you?

Do you have any default project set in SD3? (If “Delete Current Default Project” in the File menu is enabled, you have.) If so, maybe try to delete it?

Are you using “Mono Outputs” (in SD3 Settings > Advanced)?

Ho anche io lo stesso problema fra l’altro su una macchina simile alla tua!!! OSX Mojave, e cubase 10.5.

Come risolvere?
