Is your external drive formatted for HFS+ or APFS? If not, you are bound to get this type of error.

Have you installed any of the SD3 Basic Sound Library anywhere?

Also. you don’t say but I’m guessing that this is not an upgrade from SD2.

Check out this section of the SD3 Operation Manual

this section also contains some pertinent info you might want to review:

    Hi Danny,

You’re using a function for locating an already installed library. From what you’re saying, you have not installed it yet. PM (Product Manager) shows that you haven’t even downloaded it (the installer for the library).

So, first set a download location in Preferences. This is not a SD3-specific location and does not have to be on the same disk as as where you want the library installed. It should be a folder that does not and will not contain anything else but PM downloads, i.e., temporary installer files. I’d recommend either using the default location or to create a folder named “Toontrack Downloads” on an external disk.

Then click Download Product in PM. When it’s downloaded, click Install Product. In the installer, you’ll get to choose where you want to install the library. This is where you select its final destination on the external disk.

(The installers for parts 2-5 will not ask for install location, they will install where part 1 is installed.)
