I’ve bought the custom & vintage SDX today and when playing around with it I bumped into the following.
When running SD3 in stand alone mode using the Custom & Vintage package the following presets cause SD3 to crash when hitting the snare (or a combination of snare/tom). There are some crash reports that I can forward (just let me know).
The presets that show this behaviour are:
Grand Luxe – Cold
Hanne – I Don’t Feel A Thing
Hanne – Talk of The Town
When using the drums in another preset or in a different pack the drums work just fine.
Anyone with an idea of what could be causing SD3 to crash in combination with these presets & e-drums?
Thanks in advance

I just installed it on a second Mac Book and am experiencing the exact same behaviour on the mentioned presets: “SD3 quit unexpectedly”.
Anyone else experienced this with these presets?

I should think it is related to this:

On the other hand, SD3 shouldn’t crash because you miss an SDX that a preset uses.
Are you sure you are running the latest vesion of SD3, 3.1.2?

Hi Olaf,
I’m running the latest version (3.1.2) which is also mentioned in the ToonTrack product manager.
I do have the following SDXs installed and ready for use:
– SD2 Core (1.5.0)
– Vintage&Classics (1.5.0)
– SD3 Basic Library (1.1.2)
– SD3 Room Library (1.0.0)
– SD3 Additional Bleed (1.0.0)
– Metal Foundry (1.5.0)
– Progressive Foundry (1.5.0)
– Rock Foundry (1.0.2)
– Rock Warehouse (1.5.0)
So even when having the SD2 core present it doesn’t get around the preset issues, so the challenge mentioned in the post you referred to is not relevant in my situation.
Please let me know if there is anything more specific you need me to check.
Thanks in advance,
Cheers,

Can you load the Avatar SDX (SD2 Core) in SD3? Perhaps it is broken or needs an update.

Hi Olof,
I’m able to load the SD2 core SDX into SD3 and am able to play on the kit without being kicked out.
Is there a particular preset I should check that matches the drums from the Custom&Vintage?
Thanks,

I believe I have found the solution for this issue.
Grand Luxe – Cold –> the third rack tom is not used but there appears to be a stacked instrument to be routed to the appropriate busses. Remove the routing of the stacked instruments and it doesn’t happen anymore
Hanne – I Don’t Feel a Thing –> the second & third tom have the same issue as described above. Also for the stacked snare only the stacked user instruments should be selected for the ambience busses. When I removed the other routings SD3 no longer crashed.
Hanne – Talk of the Town –> Similar issue with the snare as described above.
I have attached the User Presets that I have saved for comparison (had to zip them because of “File extension error”).

Good to hear that you have found a workaround.
I just downloaded and installed SD3, Avatar and C&V here on my home PC.
Everything works. No crashes when using those presets and playing those
drums. We will have to have a more serious look a this once Toontrack
starts up again after the summer vacation.
