    Hi,

the TD50 is sending separate MIDI notes for the Side stick and Rimshot, right? Then I don’t see a problem. Even if it would use the same note, you can setup one to be triggered on lower velocity and the other on higher velocity hits.

    Hi John,

No I don’t see separate notes coming in when I monitor the MIDI events. I see the same note for side stick and rimshot which I thought was odd since it works with BFD.

    OK,

is it Velocity controlled when you try with BFD? If so, you can do the same with SD3.
Stack the Side stick with the Rimshot note and set the Velocity Gate to e.g. 0 – 65 for the side stick and 66 – 127 for the Rimshot.
These value depend on your playing style, of course, so you may want to increase or decrease the point where the two are switched.

I am not a TD-50 user myself, so hopefully some user(s) will chime in.

    Thanks for the reply.

It works in BFD without velocity switching and as far as I know it should work in SD3 too. I’ve posted this over in the VDrums forum so hopefully someone there with a TD50 can help. In the meantime I’ll try your suggestion of velocity control.

    Thanks!

The Td50 will either send the sidstick as a separate note or not. So if it doesn’t then bfd is using velocity switching. The TD30 has button on the front when pressed uses a different note number for side stick. I take it Td50 doesn’t?

    I solved the issue!

In the TD50 you must have a sound assigned to the snare or it won’t transmit xstick. I had a kit setup for VST’s with all the sounds removed from all the pads, so I wouldn’t have to lower all the volume sliders on the module when I only wanted to play VST’s.

I switched to the next kit up that has sounds assigned and the xstick started working in SD3!

    Cheers

Thanks for sharing that. Strange behavior of the TD-50 firmware but it solves the issue!
