    Hi,

there’s nothing in the TD-9 mapping that affects the input velocity for your Crash 2.
What happens if you just switch the cables between the Crash 1 and Crash 2?
    Is the difference consistent?

If you inspect the MIDI being sent from your module by either recording to a DAW or the SD3 Song Track or by looking in the Analyzer window on the MIDI In/E-drums page, what notes are being sent for each instrument and articulation when you hit your cymbals?
Does the Velocity look consistent between them?

There should be a Ride Bow Shank, Ride Bow Tip and Ride Edge mapped in the TD-9 but it of course depends on which Ride is loaded (if you have loaded it from a Library where not all articulations are sampled)

    John

    Hi John,

Thanks for reply. Before seeing it, I went ahead and fixed all the cymbal issues by manually re-mapping them in SD3 and creating a new preset. The TD-9 preset in SD3 is definitely not fully correct out of the box. I know I said in my original post that all settings in the module are default, but I should have mentioned that yes, I did correctly program the module with the exact pad models I’m using for all triggers. Even with all that, I still had to completely re-map the crash and ride cymbals inside SD3.

All good now, but just to let everyone know that the TD-9 preset in SD3 needs some adjustments.

    Thanks,
    SP

The kit mappings in SD3 are a helpful guide, nothing more. Unless you have a physical setup with 5 tom pads and 5 cymbals, there’s simply no way that those mappings will correspond to your triggers perfectly. (And that’s just the Core Library, never mind any expansions you may own.) I would use them as a starting point and confirm or remap according to your specific pad configuration.
Once everything is mapped and set up to your liking, be sure to save your settings as a User Preset! (And re-save every time you make changes to it!)

Agreed the presets are just a place to start from. The learn function doesn’t work too well on a cymbals as you tend to trigger all zones to some extent with a hit. An easy way is to record the midi while hitting the cymbal in different ways (remembering what you hit first and 2nd ) and then manually put these into the edrum settings.

    Hi Mark,

I ran into the same problem, but I can’t seem to get it fixed through the MIDI learn function. Any chance you’d be so kind as to share your preset with a fellow TD-9 enthusiast? 🙂

    Thanks,
    Kris

I use a td30 and I don’t think I have standard settings. You need to go to the edrum page and manually put in the note numbers you are sending. You can find the note numbers in SD3 but I am more used to Cubase so I just recorded the notes in Cubase and then wrote them down. I went into edrum settings, selected the cymbal I wanted to program and put my note numbers in. The learn function is fine if only one note is generated but with cymbals it’s easy to trigger both bow and edge at the same time. That’s why I do it manually. In edrum settings it will show the note number you are hitting as well. You just need to do what you find easiest.

Oops, I’m sorry, the reply should’ve been directed towards stpete111, who posted the initial question of course. But thanks for the tip, I’ll give it a go manually!

    Cheers,

    Hi,

I’ve had this exact same issue. What I did is to go into the TD-9 midi mapping menu and essentially see all of the note ‘numbers’ that are default in the brain and then ensure this was working over in superior drummer. I think the only true way to fix this would be literally to sit with the brain and with SD3 and just make a complete carbon copy of what’s in the brain vs what’s in SD3. That would take ages though….

In the standard pre-set on SD3 for the TD-9 I found the ride bell value ’51’ is actually mapped to 53. If you change this to the default value, it then seems to work.

Only other issues I am having is velocity on the brain and then into SD3… But that’s a task for another day!
