Hi Guys,
got a massive Problem. can’t get my VH-14 work properly with SD3. Even if I close the HH I get a open Sound. When I step on the Pedal I get the chick Sound, but when I play the head to play a closed HH I always get the open Sound. The Midi Notes are correctly sended, but it seems that SD3 can’t get the right CC Note or something like this.
Does anybody have the solution or can tell me what I#m doing wrong???
Cheers Ilja
Grab the free MIDI utility called snoize and run it. It will tell you what notes are being sent. See if the note that gets sent for when you play closed HH on your VH14 is the note that SD3 expects to get to play closed HH. The MIDI mapping might not be correct on either end.

Hi Drumjack,
thanks for your suggest. Don’t laugh at me, but which one is the correct one?? I use the Keymapping for the TD-50x inside SD3 to get them understanding each other.
The Module is sending the correct Midi Notes. The CC Channel for the HH inside the Module is set to CC4 as it should be, but it doesn’t work.
So what should be the correct Midinotes that should show up in this Snoize Tool you suggested? And how can I correct wrong sended notes??
best wishes

As I said look in snoize and see if it’s sending the MIDI note that the mapping you’re using in SD3 is the one for closed HH. CC has nothing to do with this. CC’s are continuous controller messages like volume and you’re working with MIDI notes which are discrete messages. You may have to change either the mapping in SD3 or your controller and for that the manual for both SD3 and your ekit are the things to look at.

Hi Jack, I did as you suggested but as far as I know the cc is important, cause it controls the level of openess of the HH. As I wrote, I only get two different midinotes instead of four. So how will the software know which sound to play. I use the TD-50X Keymapping that is especially made for the use of the digital HH. In this case the multizone function enables the total flexibility of three zones for the HH. So far so good. But for me it still seems that the problem also could be the TD-27.
thanks for your help man!!!!
Have you set the HH pedal control inside SD3 for the articulations you need? The mapping might not be correct; I’ve run into some errors in the General MIDI mapping si I wouldn’t be surprised that there might be errors in other drum module mappings.

Yes I did the correct mapping for the vh14D. Chosen the multizone setting and mapped al three regions vor the hihat. But now I’ve got the problem that when I play the head trigger with pedal open it plays a closed hihat. There is definitely something weird going on. I’m going to set everything factory setting and start all over. At some point you loose the orientation on what you’ve done or not. So far thank you for all the suggestions for trying to solve my problem.
cheers
Hope you get it figured out as I’m stumped. Tried all the logical stuff that we both can think of. Let us know what you come up with. Have you tried talking with Roland?

Yep, I got all working proper again!!!! Made a factory reset on the TD-27 and built up a new fresh scene in GigPerformer and voila everything works fine!!! Sometimes it just needs something fresh. And . . . Please don’t ask where I made the mistake. . . . . 😉

Congratulations on getting things working again. Like I said I was lost as to how to go any further. The only thing I didn’t suggest was what you did with rebuilding things in the Roland and Gig Performer. And no – I won’t ask how you did it. Just chalk it up to a ghost in the machine that had sport with you and I.
As a heads-up about Gig Performer – I don’t know how much you know about things but Plugin Alliance has removed almost everything related to the program. The only existing page I could find is this: https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/brand/deskew.html

Thanks a lot man! I purchased GP via Plugin Alliance 🙂 and did a crossgrade to the native GP 4.0. I heard about that Deskew would quit the cooperation with Plugin Alliance and that my version could not be suppprted or updated anymore. Now everything is fine and I’m looking forward for my new experiences with this new setup!!
Cheers
