You should be able to get a drum roll on a mesh head. I have had a few as well as built my own. I think the Roland will work. What drum are you trying to get this to work on? If it is an acoustic 14” snare with mesh and no damping then it would be difficult. What trigger were you using? They are all piezo anyway. I used a red shot trigger for a while then built a centre trigger with a piezo disk (these are incredibly cheap and no different to what Roland use) also which mesh head did you use? Some are really bouncy causing double hits and missed hits. The drum-tec heads are really great but not that cheap.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

    Yes, 14″ x 6.5″ snare.

I have ordered a Roland ‘Power-Ply’ head for this and the RT-30HR……which they show on a 14″ snare.

I play with a Pearl TruTrac ATM on my snare but the trigger sound from it is not very good, probably not very compatible with my 2Box Drummit-3

I have tried all sorts in my Superior Drummer 3 (SD3) to get the TruTrac to work properly but doesn’t.  So I’m hoping these new RT-30HR triggers are going to work with the more realistic ‘Power-Ply’ heads.

I also replaced the 22″ mesh head on my kick drum with the TruTrac head – which is working really well.  NO CHANCE of double bass drumming with a 22″ mesh head!
