    Anyone???

The PD-140DS and CY-18DR have a much improved dynamic response and more accurate positional sensing, which are translated into the response of Superior Drummer 3. The more realistic side stick performance and damping of the ride by touching the bow also work with Superior Drummer 3.

The hot-spot problem that was reported by some users with earlier Roland pads and modules is resolved and the bigger playing surfaces of the PD-140DS and CY-18DR also give a much more authentic performance.

How does one get the positional sensing and dampening of the digital ride to work in SD3 i cant seem to figure that out? I got my snare to work great and the hi hats are triggering perfectly but i cant get the positional or dampening effect from my CY18dr to work in sd3. Many thanks

it should work selecting the TD-50 preset

It works, sort of.  The digital ride allows you to place your hand on the cymbal to mute, but using a light touch still seems to mute the ride abruptly.  It would be nice to have default support so that the mute effect matches the hand pressure based on the aftertouch values coming in from the device.  This is being done in the default kits in the TD50 and TD27.

That’s what I’ve used.  It works very well other that my concerns about the digital ride, but I think that’s just SD3 not taking into account the variation in the aftertouch velocities.

    Hello

On my TD-50 the side stick performance is not consistent for all of my PDXs when using the TD-50 Preset.  Although the side stick is a loaded articulation it varies with a rimshot etc.  Normal technique would be to rest my hand on the head to play the side stick (as it works on TD-50 stock sounds).  Suggestionx as to what to look for?   Thank you in advance!

Hi there, I would like to know if Superior Drummer 3’s TD-50 (or TD-27) preset can respond to the cc messages that the Roland modules send out as a result of playing the PD-140DS and  CY-18DR:

    – tip or shank of stick on ride detection (resulting in respective sounds being triggered)

    – snare edge(‘clunk’ sound) on rim only hit

    – only playing snare rim shot(sound) on combining head and rim(hit)

    – rim shot variations depending on where the stick lands on head(when also hitting rim)

    – detection of hand on head resulting in rim sound change to side stick sound

I would really appreciate clarity on all of these points if possible. It’s ok if Superior Drummer 3 can not currently do some or all of these, Toontrack are amazing, you guys are my heros for making such awesome software. Would just really like to know exactly what it can do currently either way.

If some or all of these cc messages (sent by module) is not setup to change the relevant sounds, is there a way of me programming them to?

If superior Drummer 3 can not currently make the best use of the cc messages, please can you consider this as an update. The sounds are already there, it would be a shame to not be able to trigger them with all the available Roland digital triggers.

Thank you in advance for answering my questions.

    You guys rock!

I’m still not able to find anything concrete on this. I purchased a cy18dr and the roland td-27 specifically for triggering in SD3. Its very frustrating to have to add stacks and gates in order to simply trigger both bell tip articulations and bell shank articulations. Selecting td-27, and td-50 presets makes no difference. As i read somewhere else, SD3 is treating the digital ride like the older 3 note pads. If there’s something I’m missing can someone enlighten me? frustrating to have spent the money on this under the impression digital ride FULL articulations were supported with SD3.

    Thanks

I would like to know as well whether the digital ride advantages are fully supported in SD3 at the moment.

I’d like to know that too.
It’s pretty cumbersome to create stacks and gates for the tip and shank to work properly

Personally I found more natural to have the shank articulation on high velocities hits and tip articulation on lower velocities. Tip or Shank have nothing to do with positional sensing in my opinion.

S3 should have some real positional samples on the ride, just like they recorded on each snare.

Hi everyone: My VH-14D hi hat finally arrived (after 8 months!). So I am trying to get the Vh-14D and the PD-140D into the TD-27 working with SD3. Currently it doesn’t work. A guy named BecauseDrumGeek on YouTube shows that he got the VH-14 working with SD3 at a very advance level (e.g. L-R hand distinction) so it does seem possible (here is the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Qk5cJsj3v4)

I selected TD-27 as the module in SD3, but it doesn’t seem to work with the Vh-14. My goal (and assume every SD3 user using the VH-14 and PD-140) it to have the most advance, responsive and detailed eDrum kit with SD3 possible, i.e. L-R distinction, very detailed snare articulations, etc.

I have reached out to BecauseDrumGeek (his name is Martin) but he is no longer responding. It would be really great if ToonTrack could make using the Vh-14 and PD-140 just “one click” set up in SD3 because it is (I think) the absolute top-of-the-line eDrum set up available. And I think we all use SD3 because it is the absolute top-of-the-line.

    Any advice is much appreciated!

    Thanks.
