Using Reaper DAW, I’ve noticed sometimes if I open a project, make a quick change, and then render, it will typically miss the first few drum hits from Superior Drummer 3. However, if I let the project play a bit, it eventually loads everything and renders ok from that point forward, until I close and reopen again later. Is this due to caching in SD? What setting can I use to force it to load all samples immediately?
If you have turned caching on, then it needs to play in order to load the required kit pieces. If you want everything loaded immediately, ensure caching is off. The trade-off is that caching loads only the required articulation samples, verses loaded all samples in that articulation. However, you can turn off whatever articulations you don’t need.

@Bear-Faced Cow, thank you for the reply. When I click on the memory details, it shows Cached is unselected. I assumed that means it’s not cached, but it’s acting like it is – the first few hits are not rendered (and then they start coming in after a few beats… snare, kick, then eventually cymbals, etc). When I go to performance settings, I see Cache Mode is Project Specific (the only other option is Force Cache). I don’t see an option to disable it entirely.
Any input is appreciated!
