I recently switched to a new computer (Windows 7 64-bit, but I’m using Reaper 32 bit) and as such had to reinstall a bunch of software. One of them was EZ Drummer. I also recently acquired EZD2 and so when I moved to the new computer, I installed that as well.
When I first installed EZ2, I wasn’t seeing it in my plugin list. When I looked into it, for whatever reason the dll file wasn’t placed in my VST folder. When I tried to put it in there, it told me that there was already a file in there with that name, which was from EZD1. So it added a “2” to the EZD2 dll file. Now, when I open a new project, I can access either EZD1 or EZD2 just fine, and it works great. However, whenever I try to open an old project on which I used EZD1, I get a Registry Error that says:
“Please ensure this product has been installed properly”
Once I click ok, I get a Runtime error. When I click OK then, Reaper shuts down.
So I can’t access any of my old projects on which I used the original EZD.
What have I done wrong? Does anyone have any clue how to fix this?
Thanks !
In a proper EZD 2 install, the original EZD 1 .dll is replaced with the new EZD 2. Original EZD 1 projects will play back as expected using EZD 2. If the original EZD 1 .dll was moved post install, the new EZD 2 install won’t be able to overwrite it.
Both EZD 1 and EZD 2 aren’t meant to coexist at the same time on the same machine.
I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling. I would manually delete your remamed .dll as well. If you manually moved the original EZD 1 .dll, you should manually delete it. If Reaper doesn’t pick up the install path, you can add the path in the Reaper preference menu instead of moving anything.
