Rat here.
I have recorded something from my TD12 into Reaper with SD3 as the VSTi. The recorded notes show in the track and in Reaper’s on-board midi editor, but not in the SD3 grid editor (which is set to follow host). Obviously I need to be able to ‘see’ my midi in the SD3 editor in order to edit articulations and stuff.
How can I get this to happen?
Cheers Rat.
Were the notes recorded onto the S3 Song Track or in Reaper?
If in Reaper, they won’t automatically show up on the S3 editor. You can either just edit in Reaper or hit the record button in S3 and play in Reaper, and record the Reaper track into the S3 plugin and onto the Song Track. Then you can edit in S3.

Thanked by: roland ratHi Scott
Yes I pressed the record button on SD3 transport, and then went to Reaper and pressed record there. You get two identical recordings. So, naturally, I’m wondering, is there a way not to have the Reaper version of it? If I’m not going to use it …
In SD3 I edited what I played, but my Reaper track stayed as it was. On playback you get both, which is weird to hear! But I’m not sure that I can edit articulations (hi-hat being the prime culprit, even tho my VH11 triggers well) in Reaper. You can only really get into the midi in SD3.
Another thing I notice is that although I’m following host, whilst SD3 follows the tempo it doesn’t follow the time sig (always 4/4), which could be a problem moving forward as most of what I play involves multiple meter. Is there a cure for that as well?
Cheers
Rat.
EDIT: if you press record on SD3 and hit play on the Reaper transport, you only record in SD3 not in Reaper.
I suppose you can just delete the “duplicate” in Reaper of you only want to edit in S3.
S3 is a plugin and can only follow tempo, not extract time signature changes from the DAW. You can manually input time sig changes in the S3 Song Track of you want.

Thanked by: roland ratOkay. As long as it follows any rallantandos it should be all right. I can use the click from the tempo map in Reaper anyway I guess.

Superior Drummer 3 version: 3.1.4

S3 will follow tempo changes of the host. It just won’t display time signature changes on the Song Track from the DAW. You can manually add them to the S3 Song Track so they will be exactly sync’d.

Thanked by: roland ratI recorded something and hit the stop button. Now the record button is greyed out and I can’t use it anymore. Why?
