Recommendation for Roland V Drum Module

I purchased the Roland TD 20 module on EBay for use with Superior Drummer 3. The screen in the module is defective: fades in and out or can only see part of the screen contents. I am returning the unit. I need a new module that will work well with my mixed Roland V Drums (most are the latest versions). I don’t want to pay $2500 for a new TD 50. Any recommendations on which new module I could buy at a reasonable price.

Check out the stream by Luke Oswald https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7RsXdL6U9E where he mentions any of the controllers will work as long as they shoot midi to your PC running SD3.

If you just need something to trigger SD3, I highly recommend getting an eDrumIn trigger module. It’s been out for a year and gets updated frequently, but already out of the box it’s the best triggering module I’ve ever used, highly customizable, easy to use, and works with pretty much any pad you throw at it. Lots cheaper than a decent Roland module, especially if you won’t be triggering any onboard sounds.

Notable features: three-zone triggering, hotspot suppression, and positional sensing on any mesh pad (not just snare). Three-zone triggering (including bell) on any cymbal pad, using a single cable. Support for split cables. Support for Yamaha triggers. Bank switching. Last but not least: by far the best hihat implementation you’ll ever experience.

Agree with above if you don’t require sounds from a module. If you are insisting on a Roland module and need a full compliment of trigger inputs then the td30 is a good one but the sounds are not as good as the newer modules like td27 (does not have as many trigger inputs as the td30/td50 though)

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
