Hi there
Just upgraded to Cubase 5 and then downloaded and updated to Cubase 5.5.
As I expected, had to re-authorize Ezdrummer/EZplayer and noticed that there were some upgrades available for those so they’ve been downloded but not installed as of yet.
Also upgrading to NI Komplete 7 which has 12 disks, so decided to do a complete re-install of everything, whilst also adding a new hard drive to mirror the install when it’s all done and running smoothly.
Initial installations of Toontracks has shown that every time the usb wireless stick is plugged in, the machine ID changes forcing a re-authorization. This was solved by using a different internet machine to get the authorisation codes from the Toontrack account which proved to be fast, easy and reliable.
How would you suggest going about this complete re-install? The Cubase eLicenec dongle is no problem, though there will be quite a lot of NI Service Center and many other plugins to authorize on line from other software houses.
Will the Toontrack codes change every time there’s a log on for other manufacture authorisations? Theres so much to do with a complete re-install from windows up and I’ts not expected that it will all be done at the same time or even the same day.
Also, what will happen after the Toontrack re-install and the application of the updates to EZdrummer and EZplayer that have been downloaded over the last few days? Are those ugrades just maintainence upgrades/bug fixes or are there any new features added?
If the USB internet dongle is not unplugged until all is complete, will that stop the change of machine ID problem?
Any advice will be gratefully recieved, need to plan and execute all this with as much foresight and planning as possible, hoping it will all go as smooth as possible.
Install will be staying on Win XP Pro 32 bit for the time being btw.Machine is the same but will have added new drive.
Thanks in anticipation

the short(ish) answer is:
– your Computer ID is dependent of your computer hardware, no 3rd party software should interfere, not even dongle drivers.
– if you intend to use your computer without your wireless network key in then don’t authorize when it is inserted.
– update ALL your Toontrack software before authorizing, not a strict requirement but will make things smoother, especially if you are running Windows 7 (not your case but mentioning for others).
Your second question cannot be answered since we don’t know what version of EZdrummer/EZplayer you were running up to this point. Theses updates are free and the ONLY version supported at any given time so not updating is not a wise advice any one could give you… they will of course not break compatibility with older projects (that would be a bug and we are not aware of any of this nature) so it is safe and recommended.

Thanks great, thanks for yours suggestions. The current installs are EZdrummer 1.2 and EZplayer 1.05 are they current or should the upgrades be applied?
Cheers

there is a section in the ‘Announcement’ section of this forum that states what the current version for all software is. I think you will find there are more recent versions listed there, as well as the support portal and user area of your account. 🙂

Thanks for that advice, seems the toontrack install is not of the current version so, will upgrsde from the free download area.
So have i got this right – the wireless USB dongle is always plugged in, tough always disabled except for registration etc.
So, provided it’s not physically pulled out from it’s usb socket, there should be no random problems ?
The songwriters midi packs and fills are great. But… can we look forward to some new really hard trance/dance pack midi file song packs as well in that genre? That woud be great as it is all so “metal” currently and were not all metal or pop heads !

What’s important is not if the wireless USB device is plugged in or not, rather if it’s Enabled or Disabled. If you generally have it Disabled, please do so when generating the Computer ID, then Enable it to go online and generate the Authorization code. When you have done so, Disable it and enter the code.
