Random opening Kick spikes
Here’s a head scratcher for you…
I’ve been working with EZD2 for a couple years now, been fine till now.
I’m on Windows 10 automatic updates, Reaper up to date, ASIO4ALL v2.14, VLC up to date, M-Audio M-Track(it’s Microsoft driver was updated on 1-18-19), and EZD2 up to date. And since this problem started I’ve made sure everything is updated – and it’s still doing it.
Here’s the scenario –
I tap in a rhythm, EZD2 gives me some sugestions, the first one works but it’s too long so I drag it down to the song editor and trim off a little on the left and a little on the right and it’s perfect. I then add this file to my midi library. Everythings fine until I use that file repeatedly (along with others) to build a song. Seemingly randomly it starts playing the opening kick too loud. Not every pass of the file blocks but just some of them. When I drag the song midi into Reaper the velocities look fine, no spike, but it still does it – even in the DAW. It’s audibly louder and you can see it spike on the VU.
The source file is “Verse 01” – Radio Rock 147 BPM – and my tempo is 130.
This is unacceptable. I need to be able to control this. This kick needs to be consistent. I sure do hope there’s a fix for this.
Thanks,
Lee

Thanked by: Lee KruegerHere’s a screen shot of where I got it from – it’s the first entry. The original file is twice as long. I think that I may have truncated it in EZD2, then used it. I think this time I’ll pull the entire pattern into Reaper and delete the stuff I don’t need there, then use it. That should work – hopefully.
Thank you Sir so, so much!
Have a nice day!
Lee
