I have a seemingly randomly occurring problem with EZDrummer 3 inside Logic I can’t get my head around. What I am doing is this:
Any help would be appreciated!
Hi,
the Grid Editor should be disabled while recording. There is no advantage having the Grid Editor open while recording to the Song Track (which is what you are doing).
Does it make any difference if you just have the DRUMS page open while recording to the Song Track?

In addition to John’s post, you might want to check your MIDI properties on the instrument track containing Superior Drummer. Logic Pro 11 has added some new MIDI capabilities which could create extra notes.

I tried and it does not make a difference if I have just the drums page open.
I am not sure how I can change the track properties of the track that has EZDrummer on it. I tried disabling MIDI out on the track inside Logic but that didn’t help.
Is anybody able to reproduce this problem?
A workaround would be to just record into Logic and not into EZDrummer but then if I want to edit the part in the EZD grid I have to export the MIDI region as a MIDI file and then import into EZDrummer. That’s very inconvenient. I wish I could just drag the MIDI region into EZD but that doesn’t work.
Additional info: The problem only occurs when I have “Follow Host” enabled. But I need to have that on because I want to play along to my guitar parts and not just to a metronome.
I’ve heard that some MIDI controllers (including e-kits) have a “LOCAL” setting
that should be turned “OFF” to avoid the doubling of MIDI events when triggering live.

Thanked by: Bear-Faced CowExpanding on Scott’s post, if you’re MIDI out port has a MIDI Thru option, disable it. As well, if you have MIDI Out enabled on EZ Drummer 3, disable that as well.
As far as…

You don’t have to export MIDI from Logic. You can record into EZ Drummer by hitting the record button and playing the track in Logic.
