Hi Toontrack Team,
I’m a EZDrummer/DFH User for a while now and have read about Beatstation which sounds really interesting to me!
Before buying I have a few questions that are not answered from the Beatstation Homepage:
1. Is it possible to use a Midi Controller (e.g. Nano Pad or E-Drums via Midi) to control the pads of beatstation “live”?
2. Can the pads be routed to Multiple-Outputs like in EZDrummer?
And last question: Why is the Download 40 Euros more expensive than the box? I tried to buy the download – but 129 Euros???
Hope you can help me – can’t wait to check Beatstation out!
Hi – congrat on inaugurating this forum 🙂
to answer the questions I know the answer to:
1. yes, Beatstation is a virtual instrument in its own right so will take MIDI input from most if not all controllers out there. The standalone version operates very similarly to Toontrack solo, so you’ll be familiar with that side of things.
2. no, there is no multichannel output in Beatstation.
… I’ll report your feedback on the cost side, it sounds like a glitch in the system to me.

Hello ,
Am I correct to say that from the looks of it Beatstation does not allow you to record notes into it ? Are we only allowed to edit midi presets? Can we adjust tempo of the beats?? Also can the Recorder be set to a different input like soundflower while still having our default sound interface in tact. In the preferences can we select an input as well as an output? thanks for any info on this.
Hi!
Just got the info bout Beatstation. Neet. Can´t find the proper link to download it though. Can anybody help me with that? The download link on the site is a dead-end to “soundstore” where the product isn´t available yet apparently. Is it in fact available yet?

@samp:
No, you don’t record into Beatstation like you would with a DAW/sequencer.
You can use it as a plugin in your favorite host and/or in conjunction with EZplayer Pro in Toontrack solo.
You can alter Beatstation’s Master Tempo in Standalone and as a plugin it adjusts to the host tempo.
You can record from Soundflower, yes, and set Input and Output devices.
Best Regards,

@apeacefulwarrior:
In Scandinavia, Toontrack software is sold by Soundstore and your local music store.
I’m sure they’ll be up and running with it any minute.

Hi,
the price is correct now in the shop! – didn’t see the “Country/Currency” selector at the bottom – and as the homepage said 89 Euros, I thought everything was right…
One last question before I hit the “Buy” Button:
After Downloading: Will I be able to register Beatstation twice (One for my Mac, one for my Netbook on the go) like this is possible with Ezdrummer?
Thanks again!
what does customizable midi arrangements mean? Can we mute certain notes out of the midi file? or add thanks

Yes. You can register BTS on 2 computers at the same time as long as you are only using one at a time. IOW, the license is for a single ‘user’ on 2 computers and not for 2 computers and 2 ‘users’. If that makes any sense now that I’ve typed it…

The pads in BTS can be muted so the sounds won’t play back. Is that what you mean?
I think ‘customizable midi arrangements’ mean that you can ‘break open’ the MIDI files in the BTS browser into ‘Drums’, ‘Bass’, and ‘Lead’ parts so you can mix and match different parts from different MIDI songs. Or, if you have any other Toontrack MIDI from EZdrummer/EZX or Superior/SDX, you have access to them in the BTS browser window as well.

I think what he means is, can you, for example, mute/re-arrange the order of notes within each midifile, or are you stuck with the arrangement of the original midifile? This is what I would like to know also – I’d have thought this would be essential for customizing beats?!

Aside from the videos, It’s actually really hard to find out ALL of the info about this product. The downloadable getting started manual is not much help…

Hi,
the MIDI files included in Beatstation can be dragged and dropped into you host sequencer (such as Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, Sonar etc) and they are of course fully customizable there. It works pretty much the same way as with the MIDI for all other Toontrack products. You can use the MIDI the way it is, or use it as a starting point and make your own changes. So you’re not in any way ‘stuck’ with the pre made MIDI arrangements in Beatstation.
We will in the future release more videos for Beatstation, which will show it in different environments and work modes.
