You can start by loading the SD3 Default preset. This is a basic preset without any effects added in the mixer etc.

Select all instruments (shift + click in the instruments lists, above the drum kit in the Drums tab), and go to the More menu (right of the Instruments list) and select Remove Instruments. Now you have a empty kit, which you can save as a Preset, if you’d like to start with an empty again sometime.

Load instruments to the instrument positions, and you have your kit.

In the mixer, you can select all channels that says that they don’t have any mics to them, and hide them (since they are silent anyway).

Does this point you in the right direction?

This is very helpful, but I am still having problems figuring out how to map individual e-drums to a specific location on the SD3 kit. For example, I added a crash cymbal on the far right side of my e-drums. But when I strike it on the e-drum kit, it shows up on the far left of the SD3 kit (cymbal 1). I have attempted to turn on the china cymbal on the right side of the SD3 kit and then simply change to a crash, but I am not able to make it work. I know I am probably missing something very simple, but I am missing it nonetheless. This was a very simple process in SD2 using the Learn function. Any thoughts?

The difference with SD3 is you need to go to edrum settings. From there you can change the notes for any of the drums/cymbals

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
