So I worked extensively on a custom kit. I started with a single bass setup. Is there a good way to add a double or do I start over again with a fresh default? My concern is if using a DBL bass part it may not sound ‘authentic’ compared to the appropriate DBL kit. Am I wrong?
I am ASSUMING the overhead mics catch the double bass hits differently then a single. Panning them slightly in the mix and giving some room between the fast attack of the DBL hits.
I don’t know how SD3 handles the difference internally. If I add another side Bass drum will the midi grooves recognize it as a double bass kit? I assume no. Only solution is start over with another Kit?
thanks

PS; I edit everything with MIDI in the editor not an electronic kit….
Hi,
just try it; you might like it;-)
If there is no natural Left Kick to load, try adding the same Kick as a new Instrument, MIDI assign it to note 35, add an X-mic to the Close signal to start with and then micro-pitch them slightly different. I don’t think there is generally much panning in double-kick kits but there would be a natural slight separation on the OH and AMB mics.
Anyways, my $0.02
