My system drive is getting full. All the EZX sounds are on it. Can I put them on another drive and assign that somewhere, like in the registry? I have done this with Superior Drummer, but can I for EZX expansion sets?
Thanks all!
Jon
Hi,
on Windows, there’s no easy way like with the SoundMover utility for Mac users but there is a workaround if you deem yourself a bit computer savvy and courageous.
The correct way would be to uninstall all EZX:s AND EZdrummer, then Re-install EZdrummer and pay attention to the installation dialog that offers ‘Custom’ installation,
where you make sure to point the EZHOME folder to the destination on your other drive, e.g: ‘FVirtual Instruments’.
Then you just install the other EZX:s and apply all updates for both plugin and EZX:s.
This method is guaranteed to cause no current or future problems and shouldn’t take too long, even though you own 5 EZX:s.
The “other” way is to move the EZX:s folders and the ‘Midi’ folder inside the ‘EZdrummer’ folder on your system drive to the other drive, then uninstall EZdrummer and re-install using the ‘Custom’ installation to the new location, then apply the latest EZdrummer update and make sure the EZX:s folders are moved inside the ‘EZdrummer’ folder on the new location, e.g. ‘F:Virtual InstrumentsEZdrummer’.
This *should* work and *should* not break updaters but it isn’t really supported. There is the possibility that you do something wrong and I’m not sure if you actually save that much time by copying the EZX:s and MIDI files compared to doing it the correct way.
Worst case scenario, you would have to re-install everything to the new location from the DVD:s anyway.
…and by writing this, I know who’s going to get your support ticket if you mess up…
Best Regards,
John
