I’ve read through the help portal and tried to find information within the forum, but am still facing a problem. I installed EzDrummer and use it through the toontrack solo. I have all of the sounds and everything functions fine.
I have Pro Tools LE version 8. I have it the Eleven Rack, and protools has to be used with the eleven rack. I’m still very new to Protools.
I updated my software to the most current version. I tried dragging and dropping onto a new track… nothing. I added a new instrument track as a stero, it comes up, and I cannot drag and drop, and I the option to run a plug in is faded out so I can’t add one.. it doesn’t appear to be an option.
I’ve been reading through everything and I just don’t understand what it is I’m missing. The other wierd thing… when i run the 11 rack, everything comes into the headphones… the guitar tones, wav files, mp3s, even the soundof windows starting up… but the ezdrummer still plays on the speakers.
I know it’s a elementary question, but I just cant get this thing running right! Any help?!
Oh yeah, I’ve seen a lotofpeople say run it in grid mode…. I have it running in that.
Have been reading through all the help on protools and still haven’t come across anything helpful. Just wanted toadd that in.
Hi,
just to clarify:
You are seeing version 1.2.1 reported in the EZdrummer interface
You are inserting the EZdrummer plugin on a Stereo Instrument Track
Are you running Windows?
If so, try right-clicking the Pro Tools.exe file in the Explorer and select to ‘Run as Admin…’

I will describe everything to help.
In Toontrack Solo, I open EZDrummer. I went to about in the toontrack solo and it says it’s version 1.2.2
I turn on my eleven rack, it’s Pro Tools LE. I always create a blank session.
My settings are Audio file type: BWF (.Wav).
The other option is AIFF.
My bit depth is 24.
The other option is 16.
The sample rate is 48 khz.
I used my last I/O settings used. My other options are Stereo Mix, C24 LE Stereo, Control 24 LE Stereo, and Eleven Rack.
So I open it, save my working file name.
I then go to Track, Add New Track, Stereo/Instrument Track, and Ticks.
My settings from there are No Input…. I go down, plug in is shaded out. If I look at Interface, it shows:
Eleven Rack L/R (STEREO)
Guitar In/Mic In (stereo)
Digital In L/R (stereo)
Line Input L/R Stereo
I’m on grid mode.
I tried it as an admin and it made no difference
John,
Sorry for posting twice; I knew I posted it in the wrong spot but didn’t see a deleting option. I’m not sure how to run it as a plug in. I was trying to drag and drop off of toontrack solo. So yes, I was wrong on that. I read the manual but I’m still not sure…
Sorry for posting it twice
I don’t know Pro Tools and I don’t really understand your workflow. Having said that, are you saying you’re running Toontrack Solo with EZdrummer loaded at the same time as having Pro Tools open?
If so, I would run EZdrummer from inside Pro Tools and DO NOT run Solo and PT at the same time. You should be able to run EZdrummer on a Stereo Instrument Track in PT.

Scott,
Thanks for the reply.
Initially, yes, I was doing that. Honestly, I can’t even get to point of running EZDrummer in Pro Tools right now. I load the instrument track, and cannot get it from there. There is no option for it on the track itself (that I see), and I don’t know how to run a plug-in for protools. I’m very new to protools. Like I said, i bought the eleven rack for it’s guitar tones, so I’m stuck with PT, which is fine, when i get EZdrummer running in it!
I should mention, again, that the Plug In tool is shaded out so I cannot use that on the actual track
Like I said, I don’t know PT at all. But, a quick search on YouTube yields many results on how to use EZD in PT.

After following Scott’s advice, you can try to open the attached Pro Tools Session. It loads EZdrummer with multiple outputs.

Scott and John, I thank you both for youre responces. Both worked. I am able to load EZDrummer into Pro Tools now.
I’m still suffering from a few problems. Ok, I followed the link Scott provided. I was able to load EZDrummer. When I went to go transport the track and record it, the second I press record, as the video shows, the record button dissappears and the intrument track cuts off the signal.
So when you go to the Editing screen, it shows my I/O’s and I don’t see my instrument plug in.
I try recording and I get a message saying I can’t.
I can’t drag and drop, either… which is honestly all I want to do.. drag and drop.
I’ve learned a lot about Pro Tools just seeing all I could do with the pre-set virtual instruments.. which is great, so again, thank you.
I tried running it as an admin and still couldnt drag and drop.
Anything?
I thought when I ran as an admin, it’d shut the UAC off. I was reading people who are expierencing the same problem as I am and they tried this:
So I’ll give that a whirl and report back.
The only question I’d have left if that works is when I make the instrument track and go back, it’s not showing EZDrummer as a plug in, and it’s still greyed out in my i/o. I can screen capture everything if needed.
I can successfully drag and drop now since I turned off the UAC. I am getting an error message saying the transport was stopped due to a problem with the external clock source. please check the connecions and verify that the external device is operating correctly or select a different clock source.
I will try adjusting that a little later and check back with an update again.
