    Hi there,
Here’s a YouTube video that will show you exactly what you want to do. He’s using EZDrummer 1 but the process of dragging and dropping to an instrument track is essentially the same. (He gets to where you want to go in the first 3 minutes)

Mac Studio M1 Max, RAM 64 GB, 1TB Drive, OSX 12.x/13.x and Windows 10 (VM)
DAW: Studio One Pro (always up to date)

    OWC Thunderbay Mini (4 X 1TB Sata SSD), Express 4M2 (4 X 2TB M.2 SSD), Envoy Express (1TB M.2 SSD)

or, you can click the “Follow Host” button below the EZDrummer2 song timeline and leave your song blocks in EZDrummer2 for continuing ‘refinement’.

or maybe your difficulty lies with simultaneously dragging ALL of song blocks out of EZDrummer2 into an instrument track of your host (Pro Tools).

Choose “Select All” from the dropdown menu above the EZDrummer2 Timeline.

Or, click, hold & drag your mouse across those individual song blocks in the timeline that you wish to put into the instrument track within Pro Tools.

    hi there

thank you both for your replies – much appreciated.

the first one isorted things out very quickly and i am suitably ashamed that for whatever reason i didn’t work it out for myself.

    thanks again

Here’s a follow on question to this original post: I changed the tempo on the midi song blocks in the create song section of ezdrummer and then tried dragging them to pro tools, but when I play them back in protools the are in the original tempo of the previewed track. Why does this happen and how can I get the protools tracks to the correct tempo? Sorry! I am a newbie as well!

Have you changed tempo in the Pro Tools session? (either manually on the timeline or using the conductor).

Here’s a good explanation on tempo in PT.

Thanks Brad! I had tried that earlier, but I noticed I had the note set to 1/8th and that slowed the tempo! Duh!

Next question: how do I record the audio? I can record the midi, but nothing records when I try to capture audio…do I need to somehow route back thru my apollo interface? I know! Another newbie question? :)

Are you trying to record the audio output from EZDrummer to an audio track? Fairly straight forward. I will assume you are using EZDrummer through just one stereo instrument track, rather multiple outputs through multiple Aux tracks. Create a stereo audio track (Call it EZDAudio). Go to the “Audio Input Path Selector” of EZDAudio and select; Bus > Bus 1-2 (Stereo) or any other stereo bus in the list. On the stereo instrument track you have EZDrummer inserted on go to the “Audio Output Path Selector” (which is right underneath the “Audio Input Path Selector” and select the bus channel that you selected as the input for EZDAudio. Record arm EZDAudio and press record on the transport…

That being said…. I rarely create an audio track from EZDrummer, just bounce the EZDrummer instrument track down to a final mix with the rest of the tracks in the session.

Hope some of this makes sense….

I’ll try your suggestion! Thanks! Your last comment about bouncing the ezdrummer stereo instrument track down at mix…i notice that nothing gets recorded in protools on that track. Am I missing something?

My last comment was actually about bouncing the entire session, guitars, bass, keyboards, singing monkeys, what have you down to a stereo track.
However you should be able to bounce just your EZDrummer track down as well. You wouldn’t need need to do anything other than to make sure that your EZDrummer output is set to Out 1-2 of your interface. (that’s off the top of my head as I am away from my rig today)
