Hi, I am trying to use projects to set all drums, mixer settings etc and it sort of works. I set a user drum kit and save this drums/mixer preset and also save it as a project – I adjust output levels so all my user kits have similar volume. I do this as I have a similar multi output routing for all my user kits regardless of library and find it is quicker to load a new project than reload library and choose user kit.
The problem is that when I load a new project, some of the mixer settings have changed and only return to what I want when I reload the actual user kit again so it looks like the project hasn’t saved all the mixer settings and output levels that I thought it would. Am I doing something wrong or have I misinterpreted what settings are actually saved with a project ? I have attached screenshots. First is “my project settings” when project loaded and second is when I have reloaded the kit – and these are the settings I want.
Any suggestions ? thanks Andrew

Perhaps the old files have become write-protected for some reason? Check if it works to open and re-save them in a text editor.

Another update that may help your investigation to solve.
If I save as with a diff name then I can make further changes and update with save
HOWEVER if I save as with a different name and then try and save as again with original name (to override the original), I can do this however if I then try and make further save changes, I get the same error message.

Doesn’t look like they are write protected as not showing under protect heading in File Explorer (see attached) but also if I open and save in Notepad then it allows me to do this.

Are you sure that it overwrites the original in this case? Check the modification time on the file. There is apparently no error message if Save As fails to open a file for writing.

Could you attach a preset that has this issue (that you can’t save it with the same name), please?

Hi Olof,
I have gone to do what you suggested and guess what ? It all seems to be OK today so I can save my user kits again without any problem or error message. Thanks for your help but looks like it is now working – no idea why except for shutting down and restarting my computer today ? Thanks Andrew
