    Hey shootie,

Personally I would use a less open articulation than the previous if it’s in a mix (e.g. Open 1 instead Open 4), but you can also use the edge/tip trig articulation together with CC1 (mod wheel) or CC4 (used by many drum modules) to get better control over the hi-hat openness. The trig articulations are normally used when playing on e-drums, but you can program them too.

As for the loud pedal even at velocity 1, could you upload a MIDI clip with that issue present? What may be happening is that it takes a while for the pedal to gather the ringing sound from previous hits, but I’m not hearing anything I wouldn’t expect when I try myself.

Erik, thanks so much for your articulate reply. I understand I may have missed the window getting back to you a month later. That project came and went so fast, I had other fires to put out.

Reexamining the issue so I can reply to you. I do not know how to program CC4 into Pro Tools, so this may all just be my ignorance. I put a couple minutes of googling in before replying.

I was noticing just now that this percussive squelching sound I don’t want really pops out in the AMB track. Though that may just be the Closed Pedal sound and what I need is the CC4 in my piano roll. It’s interesting it makes such a loud sound at velocity 1 though. It’s loud.

I wanted you to hear it from my end with a quick video clip incase you’re still available. Thanks so much again for your response last month!
